I am asking here because I think it's a good place to ask this

is anyone here struggling with thinking this corona isolation is actually abandonment?

the other day I saw my friend gemma. she stood with me and I pointed out how I'd not seen her for a while, and she pointed out that no one's really seen anyone, because of this whole social distancing going on.

then I had to ask her 20 30 times if she still liked me and still wanted to be my friend

and it's happened with other people too

is anyone else going through this?

Hi raging vortex,

What you write of is something I can relate to from personal experience. Coronavirus isolation can often seem like abandonment to me, probably due to my childhood experiences. I am so sorry this is happening to you. I hope you will be okay.

Hi raging vortex. I only have a few close friends. We are keeping in touch by text and phone. It is helping me. It is a scary time, and I wish it were not effecting all of us. This forum also helps me feel like I am in touch with people. Hope this helps a little bit.

Other than my husband, I’ve talked to a friend via FaceTime once. It leaves me feeling abandoned some, but I’m trying very hard to keep the logical part of my brain working. This is a stressful time for everyone. Things will get back to “normal” eventually.

I can really relate to this. I don't work, on disability, and everything I normally go to eg volunteering, is closed so I'm literally cooped up in my apartment. I have some close friends, but not many of them, but they all have jobs and are super busy. Normally I'd meet them for coffee or lunch, but that hasn't been possible so I was feeling really lonely.

I got in touch with all of them by e-mail, and we've arranged phone call chat's over the next week. That'll be great. We'll get caught up, and I won't feel so left out of things. I'm glad I took the initiative to set up phone "dates".
