Once you realize you had CEN, was it is easy to get distracted, discouraged, or thrown off-track as you try to cope? this always my reaction when men sweet talk me. I don't know why I feel like that

Yes, I believe it's quite normal, bunnyhabit. You're definitely not alone in this. Does this happen only when men talk to yo or in other occasions as well? I feel like it probably goes back to your childhood and how you've experienced it, although I don't know for sure. I'm so sorry you didn't receive the love you needed and deserved. Please don't give up. I know it's hard. Do you have a support system IRL? Is there anyone that you can reach out? Any friends or family members? Try to hang on. You can do this! You're strong, I know that. I believe in you. Is there anything we can do to help you? Please let us know. Remember that we're here for you if you need it. Feel free to vent here as much as you want. We'll listen to what you have to say. We care about you. Keep writing here if it helps. I'm here for you as well if you need it. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

It might relate to a lack of trust going back to your CEN. I had trouble getting close to men, but with therapy I overcame it. (I've been married almost 30 years.)

What is the difference between CEN and having a bad childhood due to abuse or chaos? I am seriously asking because I am unfamiliar with CEN.

I wasn't familiar the term either, but it's an acronym standing for "childhood emotional neglect." Someone can be abused or otherwise have a bad childhood, but not be emotionally neglected, I think. But certainly the two do hand in hand.

Kind of the other way around - a kid might not have suffered physical abuse, but they might have been emotionally neglected. Like i learned how to avoid slaps, but it came at an emotional cost. I also avoided my parents.

I am learning about CEN. From what I gather, someone who had a bad childhood due to abuse or chaos likely grew up with CEN. Abuse, by its nature, is contrary to a child's emotional well-being. Chaos decreases the likelihood of steady and adequate emotional development.
