I could write a book on the neglect from the family of origin....
It also feels to me somewhat .... quiet ... in this particular forum. I hope everyone is out there “enjoying life” and “feeling better” My last question was probably not phrased correctly to receive any thoughtful replies (and this isn’t intended to bash the two kind posters who did respond..) I’ve always or often noticed this forum is quiet .... it is in fact empty, literally much of the time. And I believe feeling empty is almost universal for survivors of CEN.. Running on empty Kind thoughts and respect to all here __________________ |

The deep, profound pain is unrelenting.
What worries me is when abusers don't take on board the harm they have caused. Compassion and respect to all |

I don't check this forum as much as others because it's not so active... but I wish it was. I'm sorry you're struggling @Fuzzybear I wish I could say something more helpful but right now I'm feeling quite lost myself...

Probably a lot of victims of CEN just stick to the depression and anxiety forums. It doesn't seem like very many people have even heard the term Childhood Emotional Neglect. There's also a bit of a stigma involved with it. If you're an adult and you talk about how your parents didn't love you or care about you or show you love, people will think you're just whining and not taking responsibility for your own behavior and challenges. Like, it's okay to be depressed and have anxiety, as long as you don't blame your parents.
Which is really dumb, if you think about it. Most of the parents I know try very hard to be good parents because they understand that their children need a stable, loving home and family in order to grow up to be healthy, confident adults. ...But at the same time, these same people criticize adults who do grow up to be terribly dysfunctional because of bad parenting. People are so illogical. They know it's their responsibility to raise kids to become healthy adults, but if a neglected or abused child is raised by a bad parent and so becomes a dysfunctional and mentally ill adult, then we blame the child (now adult), not the parents. |

Sometimes it's just too hard to talk about or think about Fuzzy. Some don't want to recall the part of their life where they were powerless to do anything about the way they were treated by parents or other family members when they were children.
