So I have been dealing with chronic pain for about three years, it has gotten better but still struggle. So after MRIs, CT scans and ultrasounds there seems to be no medical reason for my pain. While my doctor used the old way of diagnosing fibromyalgia, the trigger points, I would qualify for that diagnosis. However when I read about people's experiences, like flu like aching, and sensitive to touch, like hugs, and such, I don't fit that. So anyone have varying pain patterns, trigger points that radiate outside the normal musculoskeletal pattern? For instance I can be touched on my back and feel pain in my abdominal area. Not a normal referred pain area. I have lipomas that I am looking to have removed and wonder how much could they play a role. I get burning, stabbing, pins and needles, kind of pains and then will go away for a while and I can walk or even jog, then I am so sore and fatigued
This has played a number on my emotional state. Any suggestions or advice things to ask doctor??.

Hi just2b Did you think about seeing a different Dr.?I have had chronic pain for 40yrs & its 24/7 no meds.I went through 2 Drs until 1 hit the nail on the head.Surgery lasted for about 2 yrs then slipped backwords.I know what kind to get but we can't afford it or the copays. My wife has big $$ owed for her hospital stay.I still have hope though. Good luck

I know this is over a month old but I'll throw in my two cents. First of all I'm sorry for what you're going through. I know firsthand how frustrating it is to go through chronic pain at all, but especially when there are barriers to receiving a helpful diagnosis, whether it's that the symptoms don't all match up or you have healthcare professionals who don't 'believe' you have what you say you have. I've been tested for all kinds of things and I'm finally going to request an assessment for fibro because I have almost all of the symptoms and I'm tired of living this way.

I'm with Buzzy. It might not hurt to get a second opinion. Also, I don't know enough about fibro yet to say for certain, but do you have to have absolutely all the symptoms - to be a classic textbook case, so to speak - to be diagnosed with fibro? Also, have you looked into other types of chronic pain conditions? You might find some help there. I hope you get what you need and can find your way to some healing, or at least start to make sense of it all.

I am a veteran and getting another opinion is hard. I started to get better with correct arch support but as I have been getting used to them, I have been under a lot of stress that has caused all my symptoms to come back..lower back, hips, thighs, hamstrings, calves, constantly tight and very hard to loosen up and stretch. My arms, shoulders and neck have tender spots. Decided to just live with it. Not even talking about it anymore with doc. It's to upsetting.

Try Ice and Heat therapy on your joints. When mine have a real deep to the bone type ache I get out my heating paid and electric blanket and bundle up in heat for awhile. Ice helps numb the pain which really helps areas like my lower back. I wish you luck with this.
