Hey all,
I'm just wondering if you've gotten massages did you find that regular massages were effective for easing muscle tension? I have chronic muscle armoring from Cptsd in my neck and shoulders. It's been an issue since I was at least eleven. I do a workout that helps ease the tension (just rolling my shoulders and stretches don't help). But I'm thinking of getting regular massages too. I think I can afford one per month. Thanks |

hi cpsdwhoa~ i used to use a little electro-shock device called a TENS unit. it delivers a low level shock between two little electrodes, and gradually tires the muscle out, so it is 'forced' to relax. i bet it would be better than a massage, because it's an inexpensive investment, and you can use it whenever you want~! here's a link to one, on Amazon, so you can see what i'm talking about... i used to have that chronic tension in my neck and back, and it really helped~

I try to get deep tissue & reflexology massage once a month. I paid less than $50... Along with tipping. It really helps my chronic back pain.

I get chronic neck and headaches due to muscle tension from anxiety. I get chair massages sometimes for my neck when it's bad. Its not magical but it is another tool in the box. It depends a lot on the person doing the massage though. If the right person (who actually knows neck anatomy and is able to work on my neck without it causing too much pain) does it, I think its at least somewhat helpful. I don't like massages where I have to lay down nearly as much.
