(*(*(*(*Pfrog*)*)*)*)

Hon, I think I understand your fear of being under anesthesia. Years ago I had carpal and ulnar surgery. Laying on the table, getting strapped down I started to panic. It was a good thing they'd already given me a shot to start knocking me out because I was bound and determined I was getting off that table and getting the h e l l out of there!

Could you talk to your surgeon about your fear? Maybe the could load you up on a sedative ahead of time? I had oral surgery ugh a few years ago. The doc had me take valium the night before and again the day of the surgery. I was so loopy by the time he operated I didn't give a rat's kitty bitty b-hind what he did.

Unhappy Re: Fibromyalgia Check-In Thread #5 ...

Thank you for lending an ear, @lizardlady.

I don't think sedatives help with triggers, trauma and dissociation.

No matter how bad the hip has gotten, nor the chronic pain associated therewith, my mental health is what matters most to me.

As far as the surgeon goes, the referral is in but I haven't heard from them, so no appointment scheduled yet.

All I can do is continue to express my concerns to my psychologist and PCP and hope they understand.

If Social Security wants to deny me disability because I won't have surgery then I'm not sure what I'll do.

I do need to find a way to stop all this worrying though, that's for sure!

yesterday my leg went on me.

ow, it hurt. for ages I generally thought it was broken. the pain was immense and I remember thinking oh wow, is this level of pain even possible

then this morning my kneck and back went too. together. double ow much?

it is lucky I am not doing anything today. yesterday I had a dvd of the box set of malcolm in the middle, and I think as soon as I am done here, I am just going to sit and watch that (if I can actually hobbble over to the dvd player to put the disk in)

that said: my attention span is very very short, give it 5 minits and I'll probably get bored of it. ah well: tough. it's not like I have energy to do much else

Red face Re: Fibromyalgia Check-In Thread #5 ...

Somewhere a little better with my thinking this morning, @lizardlady.

Worse-Case Scenario seems to be a default setting of mine!

Most likely everything is going to work out just fine, and ...

All of this worry & upset will have been for naught!

Again, much appreciate you lending a listening ear and offering encouraging words of support.

Pfrog, I believe worse case scenario is not unusual given your current situation. Something that, some times, helps me is to focus on what I can control in the situation. The feeling of being in control of something can help me get a handle on the panic. I will confess that it doesn't always work. I'll be freaked out with worry and tell myself to sod off with talk about control.

Hang in there hon.

I managed 2 (2) full episodes of malcolm in the middle, before getting bored of it.
been updating my music collection this afternoon with some new stuff (old stuff, but stuff I don't have). always makes me feel better because you can never have enough music.

and then I'm going to have dinner

pain level is.. well, got me thinking that I need to trade my body in for a newer model. at my age, that's a shocking thought- but I suppose bad management = bad pain.

simple as that

RV, I've said for years if my body was car or would've been recalled to the factory years ago

My left leg has two kneecaps today. The swelling from the arthritis makes it look like I have a second kneecap below the regular one. Sitting with my feet up and a hot pack on it to ease the pain. I know common wisdom is to use cold to reduce swelling, but the heat feels good.
