Pfrog, burns me up when some idiot claims a reasonable accommodation is preferential treatment. Your bosses sound like good people.

The new employee I trained this week was kind enough to share her cold with me. On top of all the typical cold symptoms it's triggered a fibro flare. Oh joy, oh rapture!

Sorry, liz, and everyone else who's struggling. My fibro is pretty tame at the moment, but my back is giving me fits. I know I have issues such as stenosis and arthritis in my spine. I'm going to get an MRI soon. I think I have a slipped disc and other new developments. I'm staying at home a lot. I didn't even feel like going to Target last night to shop--and that shows I'm not feeling well. Ouch, groan, moan...

I went to the shop today to buy some fizzy, and I have to share this: the woman behind the counter stopped what she was doing to have a conversation and a laugh with me
having someone stop and talk to me is so rare, I really apreciated it |

Fibro is being a real %*%^* right now , but it always is after we do the Florida trip.
While down there my dogs both bolted out the door of hotel , both leashes were on one hand as I needed keycard in the other to open doors to the outside. They both weigh 60+ lbs and they never act this stupid. Needless to say it really hurt my wrist, I doubt anything is at all broken, based on the area and how it moves up into my thumb I’m thinking tendon pain and WOW does it hurt/burn/ache. Has anyone dealt with an possible tendon injury and if so any rough idea of healing time? I did buy a brace for it Gentle hugs ! __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

It's not the same thing, @~Christina, but I do occasionally get tendonitis in my fingers and hands and it hurts like the dickens.
It generally lasts from several days to weeks depending on how much I keep aggravating it. Have you figured out why you hurt more after your trips to Florida? Stress? ... Even good stress (like a nice vacation) can make you hurt worse. And I know cold is an issue for those with chronic pain, but I find excessive heat kinda messes with me too. Here's to good healing on that wrist, and gentle hugs for all them other aches and pains. |

Thanks , it helps to know it could be a few more days or weeks , least I feel like there is a end to it all Trips to and from Florida are always a problem 14 hour drive each way, strange beds, me on the go trying to squeeze in as much time with the kids as possible. I am always stressed before the trip and while there. My Bipolar also always takes a beating as I can not maintain any sort of routine like I have here at home. We got lucky the first 5 days it mostly rained so it wasn’t typical Florida hot humid hell. But then the rain stopped and I seriously can’t handle heat , I grew up there , didn’t leave til age 34, I was always over heating in the summer which in Florida last 9 months. I hope your feeling okay __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

Interesting that heat triggers a flare for you guys. It's the opposite for me. Love the heat (I am a lizard afterall!) Cold just about kills me.
Christina, wear the brace day and night for awhile. Gently massaging across the tendon might help. I've gotten conflicting advise about using heat vs cold. I like the advice of a physical therapist I saw - use which ever feels best. |

I don't seem to do well in the Florida heat either. But I love Florida otherwise and would love to go back there soon!

I don’t think the heat flares my Fibro , it’s the 14 hour drive and strange beds, running non stop. But the heat literally makes me sick, I can over heat so quickly, my husband just cant understand why he can tolerate it so much better when we both grew up in Florida. The cold fronts here in Tennessee now those oh damn do they keep me flared up almost constantly. A pal on Facebook showed that the farmers almanac is showing it’s going to be a awful frigid winter, I sure hope that’s a big fat lie. Thank you for the advice about the brace , I wasn’t sure if I should keep it on or off. Internet searches told me both ways ???? So yes it’s staying on and I will start massaging the area. Ice not heat seemed to do much of anything so I gave that but up. Hope your doing well and that mess brewing to the south just twirls off to the far east and the spaghetti models can just quit the nonsense. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

Aw h e l l I hadn't checked Dorian's path today. Poor Puerto Rico is going to get hit again. Those poor people can't catch a break. Too soon to tell if it's going to hit Florida. I can anticipate days of fibro pain if it heads this way. Man alive I hear you about cold fronts triggering flares. Dam near kill me.

Not sure exactly when heat/cold intolerance came on for me.
Just don't seem to be able to handle either extreme very well anymore. With that being said, and Autumn (my first most favorite season) coming on ... I dread what's on the other side of it (Winter). Everthing hurts so much worse during those cold, dark months. Telling myself to not overthink that one, otherwise I'll miss all the joy and beauty of my most favorite season (Autumn). |

I posted about this in social forum. Dorian is now predicted to hit Florida as a Cat 3 (!) storm this weekend. Am dreading the fibro pain it will bring. Am also scared about this one. That little inner voice I've learned to listen to is saying this one is gonna be a bad one. I have my hurricane supplies. I'll start battening things outside down tomorrow. I'm starting to consider if I need to evacuate. Physically I'm prepared. Emotionally I'm scared cross eyed.
Christina, I'm glad you are back home. Liz trying not to freak out. |

Oh Liz
We worry about our kids every damn hurricane season, Irma was enough , we were down there for 8 months and that broad showed up , we actually came back up here to Tennessee since my husband is on oxygen and I wasn’t going to risk not having power for it. I still hope the spaghetti screen shows it twirling off into the ocean in the next day or so. Regardless I’m sure it will mess with your Fibro Stay safe and I’m sending you good vibes __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

If that little inner voice is telling you to evacuate, I'd definitely listen to it @lizardlady!
Every time I've ignored mine things haven't gone so well. I'll be thinking of you and sending thoughts of safety and well-being your way! |

@~Christina ... I was up in your beautiful state Saturday (Mountain Road Trip) ... Here's some highlights:
*Breakfast At The Pancake Pantry - Gatlinburg, TN *Scenic Drive Along Little River Road (SMNP), TN *The Sinks (Smoky Mountain National Park), TN *Somewhere Along Hwy. 129 Just Outside Maryville, TN Then I Did The Curves ... (Tail Of The Dragon) And Got The Shirt ... Then I Took This One Last Picture (In Georgia) As I Headed On Back Home ... *Popcorn Overlook In Rabun County, Georgia Simply Where TN / NC / GA Mountains All Come Together! Slept for 12 hours straight then spent most of yesterday figuring out how to convert my videos and pictures to a medium that I could share here ... So, not only did I see a lot, I learned a lot too! Who says you can't teach an old Pfrog new tricks! Also want you and @lizardlady to know I'm thinking about you and yours down there in Florida ... How sad for all those poor souls in the Bahamas and surrounding islands ... Heartbreaking! |

Oh wow you did ALL the great fun stuff !!!
I live a bit south of Nashville, I think the last time we went to the mountains was probably 5 years ago. We talk about it often but trips to Florida to see the kids always comes first. Although after my complaints for years and finally last year saying I just give the hell up about ever taking my husband to Savannah ( to him) I knew he would love the history. He surprised me back in late February and said ok well I just booked up a hotel for Savannah for April I hope that’s ok with you LOL I literally felt like it was Christmas morning. It’s a beautiful place. Well thanks to your pic of the pancakes I know what’s I’m making for dinner tomorrow. I LOVE that place ! The best pancakes ever __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |
