Default Iraq contractor going back there w ptsd

I should have thought of posting here before the last minute. My friend flies out on Monday. He is well enough to work but has the depression which he hides and bad dreams. He was diagnosed by a pdoc. He is in avionics and wants to work over there for one more year where he makes 3x what he makes in civilian life. He doesn’t like his current job. The mortality rate for contractors is similar as that for the military, which most people don’t know. It is very dangerous.
At first I was very outspoken with him about nothing being worth risking ones life when he would retire from the stateside job in 3 yrs anyway. I think that drove. an enormous wedge between us. Of course its his decision, but not being a military wife, I am to used to dealing with this kind of danger. I hate risk and danger anyway and avoid it at all costs.
I loved the comments on this board about good therapists get clients to think out their own answers and I was trying to help him do that since he hides this from his family and probably everyone else except his pdoc. I would especially like that poster to reply to this since you give detailed answers. I am just freaking this weekend knowing he leaves on Monday. Thanks.
