Not to sure what is adult chat.

An adult is 18+, so the adult chat room is really for anyone 18+ to discuss sexual and other "adult" topics.

It can be for normal chat as well but I think members should be aware that when they join that room, the discussion can and may be of an adult nature. There are just some things that adults would like to chat with other adults about and not have to worry about young ears. It's a respect thing too. We should be respecting other members in the chat rooms and realize there is a large gap in the age groups who join chat, from young teens to seniors.

from what i've seen "Adult" isn't just about sex, it's also about politics, beliefs, current events, and other topics that can easily upset someone who is highly sensitive to any kind of seeming 'conflict', and open debate.

personally, i like knowing there is a room for that, and sometimes i ask people to take their conversations out of the other rooms and go there~

I think people use the room more to be safe and not get into trouble. The chat is usually what you'd find in the coffeehouse, although people rather use the adult chat room for that now since they might mention things not allowed in the coffeehouse.

On one hand I'm glad they took topics I might not want to hear about there, on the other hand, these days people use the adult chat for EVERY topic which I don't like since it excludes everyone under 18. It seems like the room everyone is in these days.

Adult chat means chatting with people who completed their 18+ years. usually people chat with their opposite gender.

its my belief that sex talk is no longer allowed in the adult chat room per this thread....

i think you have to make a private chat room and invite only one person that also wants to discuss sex and then the two of you talk about sex as long as the other person is wanting to.

to make a private chat room you need to be a chat host. anyone can be a chat host if they meet certain rules/ criteria.

I think the adult chat room is for anyone aged 18 or above that wants to talk about any topics that fall with in the same rules as the boards but dont want to be discussing the same issues with minors.

I think of it like the boards only talking in real time with someone who can talk back to you right away instead of on the boards waiting for people to reply to a thread.

for anyone ..... you can find the chatting rulse in chat announcements. you click on community feedback and technical then click on the forum title chat announcements. lots of stuff to know before entering chat on whats ok and what isnt and what to do when encountering problems.

That post refers to explicit sex talk. Flirting and what not is fine. Being pornographic in your descriptions is not appropriate to any of the Psych Central chat rooms.

What you do in private (one on one) is entirely up to each member. Remember to use self-care tools (e.g., ignoring) if you're not interested in such private chats.

It's my understanding that even in adult chat, politics and religion are not subjects that are allowed.

I thought adult chat was a room for when talk that was too serious for the Coffeehouse, but not Emotional or Health Support needed a place to go?

Yeah that was my understanding as well, Tamster's taken me in there once before to help me when I was having a driving test and needed to make sure I'd learned the stuff I needed to learn, That's the only time I've been in adult room.
