I made a long thread 3 days ago. It wasn't approved, although I watched my tone in it. Would it not be a better idea maybe just to delete my account, because I'm not sure how useful this forum is to me anymore?

Hi PeterA. I am sorry your post has not been approved yet. I am one of the volunteers and I have been sick for 3 days and am just returning today I will look today and see if I can find it. It takes time but we do publish all posts that are within Community Guidelines.

That's your call. You might inquire why your post didn't appear. It might have been an oversight unless you were violating one of PC's protocols. If it dealt with suicide, or something, that might explain it. Take care not to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Good luck.
P.S. Sorry...CANDC already addressed your question! |

No. I don't think I posted anything like that.

Just sounds like the mods haven't gotten a chance to read and post it yet. Peter A, the mods will tell you why a post wasn't approved, if that ever happens. So, don't give up the ship!

Well, I posted the thread over a week ago, yet nobody said why.

In general, I find I don't get a reply at any forum. It's like people just lost interest. Huh?

You might want to enquire why your posts go through an approval process.

I think it's because I kept mentioning people and sites that I had bother with in the past.

That might be a problem. If someone keeps making posts about the same subject just to vent, people might stop replying as much. You could make a thread and ask for people's feedback on that subject. |

To tell you the truth, and this isn't me being funny or anything, but I don't really like to use forums as a medium any more for gaining sympathy or seeking advice.
I went to another forum about autism not too long ago. Obviously, I won't name it or leave a link, but I gave an honest account of what happened with my support workers (the ones who betrayed me years ago) and I referred to some of them as being 'paid lackeys' because of how they hadn't been helping me and others like me to their fullest potential, or companies just hiring the sort of generic, unqualified people who are unfit to be care aides, and I noticed they were content to mess around and not take things seriously (fidgeting with their mobile being a primary example of what I meant with that term). Of course, I meant that some of them are not good and may be considered paid lackeys for their lack of professional expectancy. They're not all bad, or useless, or whatever. Then someone (I looked at her page and she is over 60) and works in that field, then said I was not taking responsibility for what occurred, began being snippy and then derailing my thread by saying I was naming people in my videos, and using poor spelling. I'd basically been spewing in some video about what they said, but it was only about the comments and nobody was named, and I used the "F" word a total of once. Then she was getting kind of arrogant, and the topic got locked, which was annoying. And I don't even think she has been a member for that many months, but somehow has garnered hundreds of posts in such a short period of time. Not that it matters. But I was like, "God, even I cannot do that on any forum in 16 years." I don't get that. I've also seen some trolls target a guy I like on the Internet. All he actually does is put up opinions videos about how a company is ruining a video game franchise a lot of people love, and this was just this guy's very own thoughts that he wasn't forcing on anyone. And yet, so many people were calling him toxic to the community, so I've been defending people like him who do the right thing by acknowledging the company's money making tactics. But it changes nothing, because trolls aren't people you can reason with. |

I read an interesting article yesterday on trolls which was really helpful - it improved my understand what motivates trolling behaviour, & how to respond (or in most cases, why not to). I'd post a link to the article, but apparently I'm still too much of a n00b to be allowed to share links - thanks, Tapatalk! It's on the Conversation website, if you search for 'trolls', if anyone is interested. |

2018 may be my last years on forums anyway. In general, I just have no interest in most of them and I'm only active on a couple of horror gaming sites these days. Very few of them are active these days, which is furthering my decision to quit them soon. I'm really amazed that it happened, though. Message boards were always so busy back in 2004 and now with E3 coming up, I see few posts about it anywhere. Maybe I just ended up bored...
