There's a few of us in chat who can't access private chats today, I'm having problems and there's a couple of others who mentioned in chat that they're having problems with private chat as well.

For me, it will alert me that there's a message there but when I click to get onto that tab it just white screens itself. And when it does let me see what people are saying, it then eats what I type in response. Weirdly, it's only private chats it does it with, main chat it seems to be behaving.

Just thought I'd mention it in case there's a tech problem or something (also known as whispershadow broke it)

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for looking into the problems. I even had trouble sending a profile pm to a friend. It was as if I'd been blocked, but the member clarified in chat that I was not blocked. Member could not send to me, either. Strange!
That has the potential of hurting peoples' feelings unnecessarily for a bit, so I hope that gets cleared up easily and quickly.
Also, if a pm in chat went through, the pm would float around the screen, if that info helps.
Another problem has been that if 2 people pm me from chat, I can only see one. The one is hidden behind the other. I don't like for people to think I am ignoring them b/c I don't see their pm. Members are generally vulnerable people, due to the nature and purpose of this site.

Have the folks who are having problems with this feature tried clearing their browser cache/tried another browser and/or cookies for psychcentral.com?

It may be related to maintenance we ran early on Tuesday morning that may have corrupted some people's cache on their web browser.

I cleared mine last time it decided to be funny with me and that temporarily sorted it but that was before it decided to mess again the same day I posted this thread.

I probably should try clearing mine again when I don't have a furbaby (Tigger) trying to walk on the key board.

thanks wisp for reporting this , and that it doesn't happen to all members. We will try and keep track of it and do something about it as soon as possible.
