I saw some members who seem to have deleted their accounts recently didn’t become anonymous (insert numbers) as usual, instead their usernames remain though their profile cannot be accessed anymore. Does this mean when we deleted our account here our old posts wouldn’t be labeled as made by anonymous anymore?

I thought the people who's accounts got deleted became anonymous with a number and the ones that don't become anonymous are the members who get banned, I could be wrong.

I think members who got banned would have “accounts suspended” under their usernames and other members could still see their profiles. I could be wrong as well. These members that I’m talking about appears exactly like members who have deleted their accounts, the only difference is their usernames remain instead of becoming anonymous.

Do you know of more than one such? We're aware of one so far, and we're looking into how it happened. That one is an exception, not a policy. Our normal procedure when deleting an account remains what it's been for the last several years: we change the author's name on all their posts to "Anonymous"-something.

Sorry, I found out it was our customer service person who handles email requests for account issues. Due to a change in policy she wasn't alerted to, she was not always anonymizing accounts, based upon that user's preference. Moving forward, all accounts will be anonymized no matter which administrator removes them from our community (based upon the user's own request to be removed).
