Sorry if I came off unsupportive whispershadow. I was only trying to say that we use guidelines instead of rules. Rules imply that they are strictly adhered to. Guidelines can give us some wiggle room when deciding if a post/thread is over the guidelines to the point of being unsupportive or argumentative, etc.

It's my communication issues at fault, sabby, I tend to read too much into what people say when it's writ down
Even to the point where if someone says not to do something I can read into that them being angry at me even when there's not actually any anger intended (for example) (and saying rules is just easier for me to spell) (and because I hate the number three here's another of these faces) |

Well I am sorry if I am being uncalled, but I have never read the rules since I joined (yes, never even once) and I have still not received any warning by moderators. I have experience with other forums. And I know it's most of the times like this
1) Don't post pornography links. 2) Don't harass another member. 3) Don't use strong language. 4) Don't tell another member to commit suicide (I remember a mod said that threads or posts discussing suicide plans are not allowed.) 5) Do not promote any product. 5) Be friendly. I am pretty sure the mods and the administrators read the rules daily/weekly just to make sure they're moderating/maintaining the community according to DocJohn's guidelines. It's pretty much same over every forum (you can find on the surface web) and I wouldn't worry about someone knocking your door. |

Yeah I've had experiences with other forums, several forums, and I know some forums make rules up as they go along, happened to me a few times now, they pretend there's a rule there when the rulebook says nothing about whatever I'm getting run in for (say for example one forum, there was a invisible rule about not upsetting the pet member, another forum there was a invisible rule about not trying to get better, another forum there was a invisible rule about cyber hugs not being allowed (that forum, guess how long I was on there before I thought stuff it and left)
The second forum I mentioned, one member said to me that they'd had the moderators knocking on their door about getting banned and they ran away and didn't answer the door, whether they was trying to wind me up idk Just some examples I can think of off the top of my head where rules have been dreamed up by the moderators and not writ down |

It happens. It is the internet after all. Moderators over other forums can come from any psychological background. Unless you're in a big, friendly forum like studentdoctor or bleepingcomputer, you're sure to get into trouble for having different opinions/race/religion/whatever-you-choose-to-disclose.
This is the internet, my dear, and I suspect the said member was trying to deceive you. I know how cruel people over other forums can be, for example, I once joined the "hacker" forum hackforums and got downvoted for my sense of humor. I left after several members down repped me. I am a childhood victim of a YouTube stalker as well, he even made several accounts over an MMORPG game I used to play as a child, and then harass me... |

One thing that worries me is admins can look up IP addresses and I am sure IP addresses are attached to the computer so they can find out member addresses (not email addresses, I mean real life addresses) by looking up the IP address

They cannot do anything except ban the member with the IP address information. It's not legal for them to track down the person. And we do not live in US, why should we worry? :O (my tone is not meant to threaten anyone.) And why would someone over the internet send a staff member knocking down one member's door? Over the continents and all.

ws, No moderator from this forum will ever come to your home. Never ever. Not for any reason. Please don't worry about it, because it definitely is not going to happen. I promise you that I am 100% positive of this.
If I could solve the following problem I would have fixed my entire life. In far too many situations in life I get "into trouble" because I treat others like I wish they would treat me. By that, I mean when I see, smell, hear, taste, or intuit any little bit of injustice against anyone (doesn't have to be me...it can be occasionally be myself, but is *almost always* someone(s) else) I speak up. I scream up. I will fight for justice as I see fit. Like my thingy over & up there <------ says: I really do care, and if you want someone on your side (as long as you aren't hurting any beings, trees, flowers, etc.) - I am right there, in your corner. A mother? Yes, I am the mother everyone wishes they had. And I do not do it for my ego; I do it because I care. Therefore, I've spent my life being misunderstood. For some reason I completely do not understand (mystery can be a good thing), almost all of the people I am trying so desperately to help think I have other motives that were never on my mind to begin with. As Tom Waits put it so well: It hurt. like. hell. I spend a lot of time (tons) alone with my cats around me, healing. I do much volunteer work, because they understand and appreciate when you give your time and immense amounts of life-energy to help out. They will take whatever you will give times one-hundred. Yes. I wish there were people in my life who treated me like I treat them. Golden Rule, indeed. *They tell me that the above^^^ is part of my Bipolarbear Disorder. (I suspect the thing has to do with me being born in the Year of the Tiger in addition to sun: Cap; Moon:Aquarius; Ascendent: Gemini. A fierce protector of all things that live or have died. We are all dying slowly, but surely. Then there are a few of us who are being killed, slowly, but surely. - I am, however, in my own corner, too. It's survival. Because, yes...I really do care. ) So: I read the guidelines frequently. Yes. |

Now I got this song in my head: YouTube I so love that disney film/movie This is the other part of that song: YouTube < still loves the older disney stuff - the movies I grew up watching The one "fault" I found with that movie is Oliver's a ginger kitten - out of all the colours of cat, gingers get adopted first they show in one scene someone choosing a black and white kitten over Oliver - would not happen, Oliver would of got picked first if that was real |

Getting back on topic though, before I set myself off on a disney roll , if they ever have to deal with me here and I have a meltdown over it, I am not trying to be a difficult mare, my meltdowns tend to come from a place of insecurity/fear, so if the mods are in any doubt about "is she trying to be a difficult mare" it's best to assume I'm feeling severe anxiety/insecurity and if they have to get into a discussion with me about what I did, stay calm, don't try and fight the fire with more fire (as it were) or in other words don't come back at me yelling at me or anything like that , the alternative to staying calm is to leave me be to calm myself down without giving my brain the chance to latch onto anything they're saying and twist it round to mean something they never said, because when my anxiety is severe I do read more into what people "say" than what they actually mean
And again, because I hate the number three, here's another of those faces (oh and another thing, try not to put three of anything in a PM to me when I'm anxious, because of how much I can't deal with the number three) |
