This is the second time this has happened to me in two weeks, and never prior to that. I have received two private messages (one last week and another this one). I opened and read the messages to me, then responded. Then, the messages to me from those two members disappeared from my message in box, unlike much older messages I received. I then checked my message out box and couldn't see my response messages either, other than older ones prior to two weeks ago.

I noticed that the first time, so deliberately created a new message to respond to that writer. I mentioned that I didn't think she received my first response. She received the message I wrote the second time (when I "created" a new message to her vs. responding to her message), but she didn't receive my initial response. I obviously did receive her response to my second.

A couple days ago I received the second private message and responded. It seems like the same thing happened, except now I forget who sent me that PM and what they wrote, so I'm unable to create a new (second) response to that member. Her original message no longer appears in my inbox. I assume she never received my initial response. I feel sad about that.

Sounds like it's maybe a glitch, the forum's ate messages I sent before but they did arrive to the members I was writing to

For me, it tends to be chat that eats messages

just a thought... check your settings when this happened to me it was because I hadnt been clicking on the "save copy" and the "request receipt".

also if the other person has placed you on ignore during the time you sent the message they did not receive thats why. any time a person uses ignore they wont receive any messages by the person on their ignore list.

also if you click on "save copy" and make sure every time you write a pm check to make sure the "save copy" is checked the message ........should........ be in your "sent" box, the in box only has copies of the messages that others send to you. but if you click the "reply" not the quick reply, your sent box will have not only the message you are sending back to them but also a copy of what they sent you as quotes. this is how I have my box set up. I never have a problem with accidental deletes or missing messages from my inbox because they are copied to my sent box too when I write the reply.

my point maybe check your settings to make sure they are doing what you want them to do.

Thanks for these responses. I'll check my settings and take your advice, amandalouise.

I doubt the member put me on any ignore list. I've never written anything that would prompt such an action, and though I forget which member sent me the PM, I remember the message being pleasant.

I think this has happened to me today, I sent a PM and there's no sign of it in my sent box when I know I save a lot of what I send just so I feel safe and if there's any trouble I can say "this is word for word what I actually said"

It's rare for me to not save a sent message, after I got stung bad on a different forum through not being able to show what I actually sent

Bird dancer, is it still doing it to you?
