its still there. at the top of the page you will see the words "my profile" click on that the control panel shows to the left. or you can click on edit display or other things in your control panel by scrolling over my profile and a drop box comes down.

after you select something you will see your control panel on the left side of the page

example when I select edit display I see a page where I can edit how my page appears and to the left of this option is the control panel.
you can also use quick links to do things in your control panel
