Hi being new here, I'm finding it difficult to get around this site.

I am in deep depression and need to talk to people who are or have been in the depths of despair...

I am probably older than many members and I hope that is not a problem with anyone...but when I am not depressed I am young at heart, an old hippy who still loves rock and roll from the 60s and 70s.

When I feel well I am busy doing my art work, enjoying my friendships, books and Netflix serial shows of the international kind. I work at a part time job which I really lie and get on well with the co-workers.

I adore the now generation because they do remind me of the fun that is had in youth

Please don't ignore this post, and help me to navigate this site...for I am here for extra help and can also be of help to others..

Under forums you will find the one for depression. I recommend you start there. When you want to read the new posts on all forums together at once, tap todays posts or new posts on the tool bar at the top of the page. However, be aware of which forum people are posting on or you can totally misunderstand what the person is posting about.
You have definitely come to the right place. I have had my disorder for 40 years and I have learned more from the members of Psych Central than from doctors. DocJohn is a therapist and founder. You will see his posts from time to time.

Well... I don't know how old you are. (You mentioned you're probably older than many members.) There are, however, quite a few of us who are older. Yours truly is 70!

As has already been mentioned, there's a forum, here on PC, dedicated to the subject of depression. Here's a link to that one just in case you haven't already found it:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/depression/

Since you're a bit older the seniors' lounge may be of interest:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/seniors-lounge/

You might also like to check out the women-focused support forum:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/women-focused-support/

And then, since you're still working, the work & careers forum might be worth a "look-see":

https://forums.psychcentral.com/work-and-careers/

There are also chats you can participate in. Here's a link to the calendar where regularly scheduled chats are listed:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/calendar.php

Have additional questions? You can always personal message a member. Most of us are only too glad to be of any help we can be.

Hi Dee Dee Starr.

For those who feel alone, or simply wanting to reach out for a chat without judgement......Psych Central is the place. There are many good listeners here... we're a pretty good bunch.

I have been an active member of this site for 4 years. In that time I have received some really constructive feedback and connected with several others with similar challenges to myself. I have also found hanging out in the Games Forums https://forums.psychcentral.com/games/to to be a welcome distraction in times of stress... a great way to clear my head, meet like minded others, and have some well needed fun. New members benefit greatly from perusing the many forums available here...lots to explore.

Also after 5 approved posts members have the option to join the chatrooms..or chat one on one with other members.

Skeezyks has listed several quick links above, should you have any more questions on navigating this site, please don't hesitate to private message me or any of the other Community Liaisons who will be more than happy to help. Just click on the screen name above my avatar.

Please be kind & generous to yourself Dee Dee Starr, and welcome to P.C
