Greetings!!
For me, my sense of humor has carried me almost as far as healing my soul. Raised in an environment where EVERYTHING I did was "wrong" and "shameful", I think it is important to show our brothers and sisters in recovery it is ok to laugh at ourselves and doing that with our friends is healing. It is also bonding. One of my friends here suggested it and I think it's a great idea! Plus, I have seen similar messages on here. But, while I cannot guarantee it will be classy, it will be side-splitting funny, most of the time, I think. Must I elaborate further or is this ok? Thank You!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo Landon AKA HappyCrafter __________________ "Love you. Take care of you. Be true to you. You are the only you, you will ever know the best. Reach for YOUR stars. Here's how I see it, the thread needs to be in the proper place and needs to abide by the Community Guidelines. If the humor violates the guidelines then the thread will be closed and or removed. There are a lot of places on the internet where crude humor is allowed. This isn't necessarily one of those.

@TheWell
To elaborate on what I mean by bodily functions, sometimes I wake myself up snoring. I have busted out laughing and sprayed my computer screen. Soda makes me belch so loud, I think my neighbors can hear me and they are hard of hearing. I also have hilarious fart stories to tell, but there are many funny body function stories that are our bodies doing their thing. The point I want to make is that we are human beings and our bodies have millions of functions and that is a miracle. Bonus, some are hilarious. The biochemistry is astonishing. We all have stories to share and me sharing mine might help someone feel better because they have done that too. __________________ "Love you. Take care of you. Be true to you. My hearing doesn't work properly and sometimes I hear the craziest things. One girl I worked with ages ago was talking about her pregnant sister and said: "That baby is going to look like a Brinkler". I thought she said: "That baby is going to look like a sprinkler".
I could name the thread: What does your body do that makes you laugh? Or some alternative of that I think would work ok. __________________ "Love you. Take care of you. Be true to you. "If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh?"
- Shylock, The Merchant of Venice Happy Crafter, what I appreciate about your thread idea is the element of humanizing a forum for folks living with mental illness. Sometimes in society, we are perceived as broken and hopelessly fragile....sometimes strange....or at worst....dangerous. Threads about coffee lovers or humor can unify and comfort us with the reminder that we are just as human as everyone else. We enjoy coffee, laugh at goofy jokes, appreciate a gorgeous sunset. Shylock was endeavoring to highlight the humanity of Jewish folks and I think his words also ring true for folks living with mental illness. A while ago, there was a wonderful thread on the Women's Forum where members posted pictures of handsome men and shared their crushes. I thought it was wonderful....women logging onto PC struggling with depression and anxiety could join the thread and just feel like regular women for a few moments. I obviously don't make the call but I think your jokes thread could comfort many. For folks who would not appreciate a jokes thread, perhaps they could skip it? Thank you for sharing Happy Crafter! |

@SilverTrees
Exactly. Not all posts on this forum will help everyone or ring true with each of us. If this topic isn't to their taste, that's great! I consider that to be normal. I am glad they realize that and move on to what suits them. Neither are better or worse, just different. And as we find out more about our uniqueness and accept ourselves as we are, we heal and get stronger. And that right there is my focus. __________________ "Love you. Take care of you. I think it will be fine as long as it is in General Social and the posts don't violate the guidelines.

I can be hit or miss with some of those types of jokes, depending what it is. But at the same time, I appreciate potty mouth humor and make jokes myself along that line at times. I'm looking forward to your thread.
