Like most companies operating large public websites, Psych Central is the target of these kinds of attacks on a regular basis. This attack came from China, which accounted for more traffic than any other country yesterday (usually our China-based traffic is minuscule).
We are setup to deal with such attacks, but they do impact the services we offer sometimes. This is the world we live in, unfortunately, and people who run these attacks (which involve a command-and-control structure of directing thousands of individual computers to try and access our site all at once, in order to deny access to legitimate users) don't really care about laws or the potential harm they cause. There's nothing to worry about on your end -- these attacks are directed at one of our servers only and only are meant to deny service to you. But we're equipped to handle them, and they are part and parcel of running sites like this. __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

I couldn't get in through Tapatalk yesterday but at least could see others were having issues with the site as well. There is a highlights page on Tapatalk and this thread was at the top of that.

Poor chat is having the slows again this morning. It starts from the log in and every step takes a long time to process. when you do get to chat you have long wait times to post, at least 30 seconds after you hit enter.
sorry for the bad news! thanks , tams __________________ Tams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Whgn_iE5uc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FOUqQt3Kg0 YOU LAUGH BECAUSE I AM DIFFERENT, I LAUGH BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE SAME Don't only practice your Art, But force your way through into its secrets, For it and Knowledge can Raise men to the Divine. Still can't make posts on Firefox (again tried clearing cookies, logging out and back in, etc.). Can post in Safari, but it's very slow.

Ahh yes, this is the issue I'm having. Clicking the buttons (like hugs, thanks, submit reply) has no effect. Here's the weird part ... only on my laptop. They work fine on my phone (I don't use Tapatalk, just regular whatever). They worked initially after the changeover. The problem only started yesterday.

I still can't post using Firefox. The post box is greyed out. I am posting this from my phone which is Chrome.

I couldn’t use PC at all last night. Haha I had nothing else to do so I went to bed. It seems to be working fine for me now.

Anyone having issues this week with Private Messages. Two days in a row I've typed up a Private Message and when I hit send I get a screen that says something like "Wait five seconds while your browser is checked". I hit the back arrow yesterday and my entire message was lost. I think there is a kink in the system in the Private Message area.

I've been having trouble with it kicking me out after I've signed in, and kicking me out when I try to move from screen to screen or from page to page in a forum. Or I'll post a reply to someone and the computer will come back and tell me I have no right to be there as I'm not a member or something, then presents me with another sign-in screen. Very frustrating.
An hour or so ago I posted a reply to a recent poster who was discouraged with therapy, and it was something I really wanted to get across to him/her, and I thought I'd posted it OK, but now it's not there at all. ULTRA frustrating. These things are occurring on my IMAC, with Safari. |

Yes, I get asked every two minutes to re-enter my log in details just like Mopey describes. I'm using standard Microsoft Edge.

having problems with albums, you can pull the album up but when you click on a specific picture it blows it up out of proportion and you can't click on the picture to size it down to normal the way we could before. Any ideas?

I keep having to sign back in like a million times. I go to reply to someone and then after I click post quick reply, I find out I'm signed out again and have to retype the whole thing. This is with Firefox. I'll try again with Google Chrome.

Since this original post was about the attack a few days ago, it might be good to put individual issues in a separate new thread, so admins can see that there are separate issues. It seems like some ongoing issues are with Firefox, and there are others with chat, and still others with forum features (like what @Tamster described).
Just a suggestion, I know I might have overlooked these different issues bc this thread was originally about the cyber attack. Hope all these issues get resolved. __________________ What if I fall? I'm still having trouble with Firefox. It keeps logging me out and I have to log back in a million times. In the time it takes to write a two line reply, the system will have logged me out. I'm currently using Chrome but that's not my favorite browser. Just wanted to let someone know. HUGS Kit
