I know someone posted about this but I can't find the thread. I don't know if it was posted in this section. Do most folks like the mention function when people reply to you....as a flag that you received a response or follow-up question?

Two people told me they prefer it but I know some people don't like it. I like the option myself b/c it's happened > once that someone posted a follow-up Q for me and I didn't see it until weeks later. But I also understand that for others it may lead to too many prompts.

I think a poll could be useful...if most don't like the fxn I'll avoid it. But I don't know how to start a PC poll. @HappyCrafter that sounds like something you'd know how to do. Would you be willing to start a Mention poll? Just if you get a chance some time.

I think an option like that would be really useful because if you don't get a flag that someone responded you just might miss there response to your post by accident and then I know I would feel awful that I didn't respond in a timely manner.

@SilverTrees

I prefer the mentions. I know I am not missing responces that way. On the poll, I can post it, plus show you how.

When you click on the "New Thread" button, you'll arrive at this page:

Mention...yes, no, indifferent?

If you scroll down, you'll see the poll options:

Mention...yes, no, indifferent?

Now, off to set up the Mentions, yes or no poll,

Yes, if you're asking me a question or would like me to comment on something in the thread, especially if I haven't posted or only lightly posted in that thread. Otherwise, I'll probably miss it.

Thank you very much for this @HappyCrafter. Been meaning to ask if you teach or ever taught in the offline world? You strike me as a good teacher-type. Cheers!

I don't subscribe to the threads I reply to. (I rarely post my own threads.) So if someone comments on a reply I wrote the chances are I won't see it unless they "mention" me.

Please can someone remind me how to do mentions???? I've been away from the forums moving house, and I've forgotten. The original explanation has got lost somewhere down the tunnel of history and there is nothing in the Help section.

Just a brief explanation will jog my computer-related memory. Thank you!!!
