Do yawl like the mentions function, yes or no? Would you like to share why or why not?

Also, for those of us who prefer to not be mentioned, what are ways to keep track of that to not accidentally offend or tick people off?

I'm a google girl and I could keep a list on an email I send to myself. That way, I can get to it on any device I use.

Ok, that said, Mention or no mention?

As mentioned in the other thread:

Yes, if you're asking me a question or would like me to comment on something in the thread, especially if I haven't posted or only lightly posted in that thread. Otherwise, I'll probably miss it.

I don't subscribe to the threads I reply to. So if someone comments on a reply I
wrote it's unlikely I'll see it unless they "mention" me.

Aw, don't sweat the small stuff Lovely! The poll is for everyone anyway so a missing apostrophe ain't no thing. I understand the importance of grammar for your blog and work but in other contexts I think we don't need to call the Grammar Police. If we did, I think I'd already be in prison @HappyCrafter or at least on trial with poor prospects

personally, no. I don't like it

first of all: it causes me problems logging in and using the site (only when I have been mentioned though.)

second: I think it's too similar to facebook/twitter, where you can just mention a user in the comments (and though this is also a social forum, it's not facebook or twitter.)
third: their's the ability to quote a part of (or all of) a post, so you could easily just type out the name of the user, quote the part of the post, and then your comment afterwards

and if all that fails..

their's still the visitor messages in the person's profile where you could leave your comments

I personally love the visitor messages. I know I always say I don't want this site like a copy of facebook/ twitter, but having people comment when they visit your profile is kinda awesome

I like using the "mention" or tagging function bc I like to know someone responded to me and also to let someone know I was responding directly to them. I think it helps give clarity to comments to direct them to whomever you are responding. I know we can do that without that @, but I do like it. However, it would be nice to be able to turn it off, as I know getting those notifications can trigger people. Sometimes being tagged is triggering to me, so, just like Facebook, it would be nice to be able to turn off certain notifications. I'm not sure if that's possible or not. I haven't checked.

I think I'm in the minority because it makes me no difference. Mention me don't mention me meh I don't care.
