I forget exactly, but maybe a month ago I started to get security checks here from time to time, when I would try to post and even edit posts. I thought it would be an every-so-often thing. Sometimes it's multiple times per day, then they don't pop up for a few days. Then they start again. Sometimes I have to deal with several in a day, since I'm a frequent poster.
I am a long-time member here who mostly posts in the bipolar forum. The security checks are frustrating when they are so often. I'm sick of clicking squares with crosswalks and traffic lights. I'm not a robot. Is there something wrong with my settings? If not, when will this end? I don't see any other mention from others about this issue in this Technical Support forum. Thanks Note: When I post on PC from within Firefox, unintentional spaces show up in my posts. I usually go back and edit them out. I guess I could use Chrome, but I prefer Firefox. |

I've had this happen a few times. It happened to me when I was trying to paste something into a private message such as the lyrics to a song or a poem I had copied from outside of Psych Central.

I haven't had any security checks so far. Thanks for the heads up.

this has never happened to me in all the time I've been a member
though I can understand your frustration- other sites I've been on require security checks everytime (not once or twice,), everytime you post a message |

I've had security checks often, too. I sometimes get them in the midst of writing a post. Maybe I took to long in writing the post?

This has been happening to me lately. Not every day but every couple of days, and then sometimes more than once per day.

Security checks are a part of our firewall that we implemented due to a denial of service attack we suffered in June 2019. They will likely remain for the foreseeable future, as they protect the forums and servers from attack. Unfortunately, the filter used to detect a legitimate user from a bot is not perfect, and so sometimes a human will be asked to go through the check or what-not. It's nothing you've done, it's just the algorithm they use that will never be 100 percent perfect.
