Why was I required to select pictures that contained umbrellas, when I wanted to post a new thread? This has never happened before.

I'm using Firefox.

I have been required to do this CAPTCHA task intermittently for a few weeks. Today, I have been required to complete this three times already. It happens when I am responding to a PM, when I have pushed the button to send.
I am using Chrome.
Many thanks!

Unfortunately, it's largely due to one of two things -- an IP block that your internet service provider is using that has a lot of suspicious activity coming from it or (b) activity from your IP itself that is suspicious or has weird display characters in it (an occasional post on our site might even trigger it). It's an automated security and traffic filter, so there's nothing we can do to "fix" the issue, and it usually resolves itself within a day or two.

If you find it happening only with a specific thread or PM or something like that, send me a PM with the details and I'll be happy to look into it further....

Sorry.

Hi DocJohn!

Thank you!

I'll give it some thought, re: my IP. I will also watch to see if it is tied into anything on a regular basis.
I do appreciate the time you have taken to explain.
Be well!

This has sometimes been my experience, when responding to PMs. One day I was required to complete that CAPTCHA task three times.

It happened again.

I copied this from the CAPTCHA page that came up but on a different thread.

What can I do to prevent this in the future?

If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware.

If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administrator to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices.
