I held off posting this for a few days, but I am ready to post this now.

let me start by saying that everyone on this forum, in some way, has been affected by covid19 (whether that be their mental health, not seeing loved ones, etc)

now, things are returning to normal- but perhaps not for everyone, perhaps they are scared, they are unsure, they don't know if they can ever live life like they used to
I just wanted to ask if it would be a good idea if their was a area of the forum devoted to covid19. either a weekly chat about covid, or it's own forum- issues caused by covid, what do you think?

I love the idea but also wondering if people can post their covid 19 worries, problems and so forth in the https://psychcentralforums.com/health-support/

my thoughts are if I came here because I was having covid 19 associated feelings, and problems I would look in the health forum because covid 19 is a physical health problem, its a virus like sars mrsa and other lethal virus's. so I would look in the forum for physical problems.

theres also last I knew "social Group" where members can make their own groups and invite other members to join the discussion. then after so many members that social group becomes a forum (thats where all those social group forums located at the bottom of the page comes from.) maybe you can make a social group, gather your members and it will become a forum that way too. Just an idea.

Hi @raging vortex. I agree that we all have been affected by Covid19 and in some ways our lives have changed.

I noticed there was a thread on Covid19 Discussions and wondered if that is what you had in mind.

I can clearly tell the definition of SUPPORT is not understood at all. I’m not sure if the purpose of this thread has changed.

I was the original poster on this thread

basically asking if it might be a good idea to have a section of the forum to talk about covid and get support with it.

my argument is: that it affects all of us, and will continue to for quite some time.

also: their's a forum for recession, so why not covid?

if anything, covid affects us more

I do completely agree a thread should be made regarding Covid-19 support.

It is very triggering for individuals that have lost family members and loved ones as a direct result of COVID-19 to read replies from individuals upset they couldn’t get a hair cut or eat at their favorite restaurant because of Covid-19.

There is a thread called “coronavirus discussion”. People post their worries and concerns there. I don’t recall what subforum it’s on.

There is a coronavirus thread on anxiety forum where people share how their lives are affected by covid 19.

I think it would be ok to have such types of threads on grief and loss subforum. If people worry that others will post about not being able to get a hair cut, it’s likely not going to happen on grief forum

And it’s ok to have it on health forum etc I don’t think it’s against the guidelines as long as it stays on topic.

We can also have such thread on work subforum where people could share how their job is effected by covid.

I don’t see why we can’t have multiple threads that are offering support in the particular spheres of our lives

Are you asking to have a subforum specifically about covid? Then we have to specify what kind of stuff people are allowed to post because if someone gets triggered about trivial things like hair cuts then people should be warned what they aren’t allowed to post about trivial stuff. I personally expect a total disaster and it will cause people more anxiety now worrying about what constitutes support and what we are allowed to post about. Covid is extremely stressful and I personally don’t need more stress now worrying what I shouldn’t post about. But maybe mods will decide it’s a good idea. This is just my thought

Covid affects pretty much everyone, but not necessarily in the same way. Unless a whole subforum for Covid is created (which I guess could be done), the varying issues probably are best dealt with where they apply. Grief issues might could have an ongoing thread; money and financial issues another; long haulers might need another (and yes, mental health issues are part of the long hauler experience); caregivers/families dealing with family members who are hospitalized another. It is an issue that all of the various issues are spread in various threads all over the forum, but perhaps those various issues are best served under the general forum that seems to apply. Not sure what the best approach is. I can see issues either way.

Given that this is a thread from last July that for some reason has been refreshed recently, I'm going to close it as we've decided back in July not to start a new COVID forum.

We're a small community and believe we have enough forums that cover the wide range of mental health issues. If you want to post about COVID anxiety, the anxiety forum would be a good place to do so. If you want to post about COVID vaccines or anything related to the disease itself, head on over to the Health Support forum and start a new thread.

Thanks and I wish us all the best in getting a vaccine in our arms as soon as possible.
