This is what I suffer from I went to a PTSD CBT therapist, she said I had a lifetime of trauma but I didn't have PTSD, she made out I wasn't suitable for CBT,told me I didn't have the criteria for PTSD.Made out cos I was seriously mentally ill only mental health services could help me.I told her she was labelling me and stigmatising me and to get lost and walked out without finishing the session.

She got the clinical director to ring me.he told me she is only trained in single event trauma PTSD and that mine was Complex PTSD from a lifetime of trauma and needed a different kind of therapy/counselling and he would look into getting me a therapist that knew how to help. She apparently isn't even a qualified psychologist she is trained on one model of PTSD to do CBT and taht's it and she has the cheek to tell me I don't have PTSD when she's not fully qualified in all aspects of it.So I said to the clinical director fine so long as I don't have to see her again cos she was so patronising and didn't believe me at first that I'd been abused and that my narc sister had tried to drive me to suicide and kill me,she said cos I'd been in psychosis that it may have just been paranoia on my part. That made me so angry and I was so insulted.Just cos she is a professional doesn't mean she gets it right all the time but the damage she causes when she gets it wrong like I was so hurt and I was traumatised enough already.I don't need to be treated like a liar on top of everything else!!!

Maybe she is supposed to be, but she doesn't sound like a professional.

Thank you for telling us about your session. I start with a new T Fri. afternoon, and i have a lot of anxiety about it. I live on the outskirts of a very small town, and there isn't any choice to get a T, we have to take what we can get. I pray that my new T has a lot of patience, and a lot of experience with lifetime trauma.

Hello Katydid,I hope your therapist is good and can help you,I guess it is hard to find one that is a good fit,I hope to be allocated a different therapist that can help those with Complex PTSD.I have an appointment on Monday with the clinical director of psychological services and another therapist whom he thinks can help,I am to talk to them both and see if her style of therapy suits me.He has promised if she can't help me he will find me another therapist who can.Fingers crossed.I hope you find your new therapist helps you.

sadly, very few people who are familiar with C-PTSD can become therapists~
that's why we try to help each other~

I am going to Psychological Services tomorrow to meet a new therapist she is going to be seeing me for complex PTSD treatment ,I am to see if I like the way she works and if I think she can help me start seeing her.I am hoping she can help me with my social anxiety and get me to stop being afraid of people.I want to make friends and form intimate relationships.I am nervous about tomorrow.

I met my new therapist today and I liked her a lot.I am on the waiting list to start therapy,I should start with her in six weeks, she is a psychologist counsellor, she said I could talk about what I wanted to and what I found helpful,I asked for help with my trigger when I try to socialise and help making friends and finding a partner. She said she'd do her best to help.I have high hopes because I really like this therapist.

I am depressed again today and I still feel really alone....it feels isolating,to be honest I don't show it but I am desperate for love and attention.I feel unsupported.I am disappointed cos last month I asked my MP for support with my benefit claim but he hasn't replied to me.It does usually take him 3-4 weeks to reply when I ask his support on other issues but I feel he won't want to help me cos he has consistently voted to reduce the welfare budget so why would he care about me?I said to him a year or two ago I was on benefits and worried cos the government seems to want people who are seriously disabled to work and I can't and he said if I needed help he would help me but he hasn't replied so I am not going to pester him,I might go to a constituent surgery if I decide on 7th June, maybe he expects me to ask him in person.I might try that.
