Hi, everyone!
As a survivor of childhood emotional abuse, I find that I need hugs and touch all day. How can I give that touch to myself? __________________ rebeka |

You may have to step out of your comfort zone. Try giving others compliments to others so that they compliment you back. Consider them verbal hugs.

Do you have a pet? Pets can help.
Personally I was very deprived of touch... and then I had a child. They touch ALL. THE. TIME. It was way too much touch for me. But what can you do. Children need touch and love and hugs. By the way, I am not recommending having a baby to fulfil your need for touch. But I will say that it cured me of mine. . |

I have a teddy bear and I wrap up in blankets and diapers. (Seems strange I know).
I have heard good things about weighted blankets and their effect on those who have PTSD. Have you tried them? Obviously the best thing is to be wrapped in warm embrace with someone you trust, but not everyone has the luxury of having someone in our lives to offer this. Put your loving arms around yourself and hug tightly for more then 7 seconds. Practice other self love techniques. Look after yourself, support your valid feelings and believe in yourself.
You are so worthwhile rebeka. Much love to you from someone who knows the struggles you face. |

I've found that gently patting or rubbing my arm (or tummy) while speaking gently and soothingly to my inner child helps me - especially when I'm really struggling or overwhelmed by strong emotions.

It's tough if you're single and live alone or with roommates who are not the huggy-touchy-feely-type! I have a very soft fleece blanket and sometimes when I'm watching TV I'll run it up and down my arms or neck.
