I was abused for nine years (ages 2-11) by my stepfather, emotionally and sexually. I have some specific memories but have suppressed a lot of them too. Occasionally, something triggers the abused child in me and I get depressed and act defensively toward my husband (as if he is my stepdad). I am 52 and have been to several therapists and see a psychiatrist/take medication for depression w/ bipolar features. I just know that there's a lot that I don't remember and wonder if bringing more memories to the surface would be beneficial...What has helped some of you come to terms with your trauma? Thanks!

Sorry this continues to trouble you. I think it would for anyone. IMHO I think you need to find a counselor to work through this with you. Also you may want to check Jonice Webb's website on CEN. Sometimes you have to take the situation a part and find the worst part to work on first. Best wishes.
