I am wondering if you can either move, or change industry for a while. She is only known in your community and in your industry, right? So her words would not count in another industry or in another community. If she calls, they'd be like "Who in the world are you?!"

If you cannot get rid of such person in your life right away, it would alleviate your trauma to at least get a break from her.

I have changed industries. I finally wised up - though too late for my current job - and no longer post where I am working on LinkedIn. I would really like to move but am dyslexic and prone to staring seizures which make driving risky. I stay where I am because of the available mass transit. I also have heart health issues and am hesitant to change MDs. I feel trapped.

I'm sorry to hear...you are truly a survivor who is overcoming many obstacles in life.

If you cannot escape physically for now, you can try to give yourself a mental break from thinking about this person. I know it's not going to change the reality. But your mind gets a break. I'm not a therapist so I don't know the best method for you. But I'm going to share what helped me.

1). Being in the moment. Doing something I enjoy with someone I like (or by myself) and commit to being in the moment and not think about that person for that 20, 30, 60, minutes, or so (Gradually increase time as you get into the habit).

2). Guided mediation. You imagine yourself at peace, like by a waterfall, or at the beach, where no one is there to harm you, etc.

Sending positive thoughts your way,
Ennie

If the person is not directly messaging/stalking you as in physically its hard to get the police involved.
