(((mountainstream))), it can be hard to talk about triggers, especially when triggered. Honestly, what you ended up doing is something I did myself, and can still do if I am triggered and having a bad day.

Maybe just sit with it for a bit and you might find a way to post a bit about it at another time.

I can find triggers everywhere without even thinking of them. I try to read or do crafts to get my mind off of them. Sometimes it helps. Please write again when you feel able mountainstream.

“Happy Birthday” is a big trigger for me. Long story short, someone wished me a happy birthday when my family wouldn’t. Then when my family didn’t she stood up to them and told them they what they were doing was wrong. She passed away a few years later. Since her passing Hearing “Hearing Happy” birthday is a problem. I wont even let my children say it to me. It reminds me of the child abuse and the memory of idolizing someone who argued i should be treated better.

I don't celebrate birthdays at all

honestly, for me, it's just another number. it's another year of failing, another year of sadness, and another year trying to act happy about well..... **** all

I don't respond to "happy bbirthday", because their is just nothing to be happy about

as for talking about triggers, yes, it's difficult

on tuesday I was triggered really badly by something that happened in a tv show (and it triggered my most intense fear), I blamed myself partly for it too

I wanted to come here and post about it, but I felt I couldn't

I couldn't even make a thread to delete it later

but it's still bothering me, so maybe I will post. about it

If it's not too triggering for you then it may be helpful to post it and maybe someone will have some input that you may find helpful. raging vortex

thank you, open eyes

I guess I am waiting until I have words formed in my head, rather than post about it without proper sentences

This is why I always used to be so “quiet” - some of my worst triggers, for whatever reason.. are not to be talked about. If I do talk about them, and these triggers are not from anything I did “wrong” - I often regret it
