Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I have complex ptsd amongst others and have done so for over 20 years.

I have received 5 years of therapy collectively and my Dr has referred me for EMDR due to emotional trauma and 14 months of talking therapy not alleviating symptoms.

I'm wondering if anyone else has came through EMDR and if so did it make a significant difference? My emotional flashbacks can be debilitating and I'm sick of the world thinking I'm someone I'm not judged on my response to these. I'm not going to tell people what I'm going through as I'm in control but it does help having somewhere safe and perhaps people who understand that experience.

Thank you in advance for considering my post.

I'm sorry I can't be of help with regard to this. But I noticed you had yet to receive replies to this post. So I thought I would write one. Hopefully others will yet follow. Here are links to 6 articles, from PC's archives, on the subject of EMDR in case these can be of any help to you:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Does EMDR Work for PTSD in Just 5 Sessions?

Can You Benefit from EMDR Therapy?

How EMDR Therapy Heals Trauma and Addiction

Using EMDR Therapy to Heal Your Past: Interview with Creator Francine Shapiro

P.S. In thinking about your post, after I had submitted my reply, it occurred to me you might get more of a response if you were to start a new thread asking, in the title, for members' experiences with EMDR.... perhaps something like: "Have You Had EMDR? Did It Help?"... something like that. The best forum to repost in might be the Other Treatments forum. Here's a link:

https://psychcentralforums.com/other-treatments/

However I'm not a moderator. So that's just my personal observation. The best way to make certain you're posting in the correct forum is to Personal Message one of the Mod's of the forum you think you want to post in & ask for their recommendation.

Hi, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I didn't do EMDR, but I have done DBT therapy and it honestly saved my life. I started in 2017, and I made so much progress, my therapist reduced my sessions to twice a month.
