The prices aren't any different than what I usually pay. Yes, I gave a tip. Found out that a friend a couple towns over is a shopper herself. So, it's certainly a valid business and reputable.
I noted contact for substitutions so she and I texted back and forth on a couple of items. I'm feeling stocked up at the moment and will use again in the coming week.

Thanks for the update. I'll let you know when I get my membership.

I will probably start using Shipt sometime within the next month. I was able to get to Walmart and luckily my relative was free so I was able to stock up.

Does anyone know if these grocery services are comparable financially to doing it yourself? Do they select the best produce for example. I am tempted to try it but I am so good at saving money when I shop that I am almost afraid to trust anyone else to do a good job. But I hate grocery shopping. I joke that I wait until the family is eating sticks and stones before going shopping.

The service I was referring to lets you order from a list of major grocery stores in your area and lists everything that you can buy in that store for the same or a similar price. You then place an order and somebody delivers the groceries to you. Also, from what I can see, they screen delivery people to make sure they know how to shop for the best produce, meat, dairy, and the like.

The only price difference that I can see is that it requires a membership, which runs $99 per year (or $49 if you're a student). Other than the membership though, I see little (if any) difference in pricing.

Look up Shipt if you're curious. It's legit af

I have tried the mentioned service (shypt) a third time at this point. No mark ups with the store that's available to me for this service(target). I found out why, as I was looking for reviews etc as I weigh in on the trial vs signing up for an annual service. Apparently target bought shypt within the year. The produce is already pre selected due to store itself. I've no qualms with the occasional trip to the grocery store, but sitting at night with a list and viewing for myself the bill ahead of time and making adjustments at my leisure before even committing to the purchase is turning into a bigger deal for me than I ever expected.
I'm also working full time and the last two grocery deliveries, I realized just how exhausted I've been and tried to mentally compare within myself the balance between what the entirety of the experience would turn out like. Would I have properly stocked my home had I gone myself? Probably not.
My sons are trying to figure this new addition to our lives. There's a wow factor for them in a they are impressed type of way.
I added last minute yesterday just sitting at my kitchen table- a bag of hamster food- of all things. While she was shopping, and texting with an out or two and discussing substitutions(which happened to be the same price-comparable product), I looked and realized how low we were and thought before I need to run out for this one thing...sure enough same price range if not a couple dollars lower than I would normally pay she added the bag.
When I check out on the app, it holds an extra dollar amount-around 10-15% of the bill for miscellaneous situations such as last minute additions which is also roughly what I'm willing to tip the driver.

I used to belong to BJ's but am considering Costco. My inlaws get so much stuff that I like from them. Anyone have any luck with Costco? I am aware of how you need to know your prices ahead of time. Its not a good deal if you wont use it all. I would never buy those giant tubs of sauces and stuff. Generally I am a savy shopper.

grocery shopping for me is awful, I have a bad back and usually have to ask my husband for the car keys and he takes over. I find it hard to stand up at the register so I only shop with my husband.

Nope, Costco isn't close enough, but I do have a BJs membership which has raised their rates :\ I'm like you, in the sense that I'm not going to buy bulk that sits and goes to waste. I buy my sons eyeglasses there, gas is the cheapest around and definitely stock up on my laundry supplies there. I restock on meats, typically there. The only downfall can be traffic depending on the time of day which when I get out of work is exactly when it bottlenecks on the highway :\
My home is rather predictable in what we go through. I have any cleaning products shipped to me from one company and miscellaneous other items from Amazon.
A little less time running around chasing after food, isn't such a bad thing for me at this stage in my life.
I am still thankful for this previously unknown to me service.

I don't think any paid memberships are worth it honestly. Unless you shop there all the time and spend thousands of dollars a year at their store, I don't think the savings are big enough to be worth it. If you must shop at the grocery store, I would go to WinCo if you have one in your area. Their prices are comparable to many paid membership stores without actually needing a membership.

But yeah, using that service could potentially save you money in another way.

If you have to go to the grocery store feeling tired, stressed, or if you have my problem where I get bored easily and get lost in my head and forget how much money I'm up to, you might be paying more at the grocery store.

Just a thought not a lot of people consider.

Ugg Darkness, I literally just came from the grocery store-2 actually. We are taking my son back to school tomorrow morning before we get a storm. The meal plan that he buys covers 14 meals a week-so twice a day. He has an apartment he shares with some guys so he cooks more than the average person. Plus he likes to eat healthy and is a vegetarian. So first we went to Shop Rite. I do not know what it is about shop rite in my area but senior citizens flock to the store. I am normally good at not shopping during peak old person time but we had to go. SO.MANY.PEOPLE. leaving their carts in the middle of the aisle wandering around. Reaching in front of me and bumping into me. One guy who was across the aisle from his cart- said "excuse me sir can I move your cart?" His answer? "I dont care" what a rude ***! Then the long checkout and the slowest bagger ever. I prefer to bag my own but this guy thought he was the best and he block me from helping so it took forever! Then on to Aldi..what is it about bargains that makes people so damn frantic?? Like if you cant get your seltzer before they run out..dude they will restock-I promise. Carts rolling everywhere because people are too lazy to return them. Of course there are parking spot wars- I dont care where I park-the lot isnt that big and I can walk! And yes, we are getting a doozy of a storm but why all the milk, bread and eggs? Do people suddenly want to make french toast? You do not have enough food in your house for-maybe-a day where its too dangerous to drive?? uuggg!
