I want to cook something "different" because it's the new year eve, but it's just another lonely night. Everyone probably has someone to spend the time with this night. It's the time of the year when people get together. For me, I will spend it alone, and step into the new year with very little hope.

What are you going to cook? I don't imagine the PC forums or chat rooms are completely silent on holidays like this.
I'm positive you are not the only person in this world holed up in your living quarters without someone to hang out with. |

I've been alone for New Years for years now. I've kinda gotten used to it. Usually, I would try to go to bed around midnight, like I usually do. It's just another day/night. See, like the person above me said, you're not the only person alone tonight.
Anyways, what are you gonna cook? |

This is my 8th year spending this night alone. It feels sad, because it's the time of the year I remember the most how alone and lonely I am. I deleted my Facebook account a couple of months ago, but I was feeling even worse when I saw all these parties and people having fun and wishing each others happy new year, while I am reading what they have done, watching them from behind my screen. I ended up doing something simple: grilled some chicken on my George Foreman grill with some French fries

Happy New Year Sans Nom! Sounds like a tasty meal! I love an order of french fries as a treat. I never order dessert but this eve I had something called Molten Nirvana because I decided NYE was a good eve for a treat. Remember that Facebook is really artificial...people are trying very hard to appear that their lives are perfectly wonderful on there. Everyone has problems and struggles and pain; we just don't always see others' pain. Important not to compare our paths to anyone else's because that's not the path to joy. I lit a candle for you tonight. Something I do to send positive energy to someone who needs support. Some friends have told me it helped them during tough times...maybe it's just that they know someone was thinking and caring for them...either way it's something I like to do for folks. |

Happy new year, and thanks for the candle. Yes, my avatar is from a movie called The Book of Life. It's for the character Manolo who was supposed to be a bullfighter because "it's in his blood", but he refused to take that path, and chose the path of love instead with his guitar music.

Actually, I didn't. I searched Netflix, but it's not listed!! Maybe I will watch it once it's listed. But in general, I like animation movies, although they are listed under Children and Family on Netflix.

Netflix is funny that way...doesn't always have films I'd expect. I also enjoyed Inside Out...it's a really beautiful animated film about emotions. Very comforting. I'm not sure if it's currently on Netflix or Hulu. Have you ever seen Lost in Translation? Not animated. Bill Murray. Really soothing when you feel disconnected or alienated. |

Not me. I went to bed last night at 8 PM. Watched some of Ready Player one and some you tube and went to sleep.

I love spending my new years eves alone. I chose alone this year even to being with my ballroom dance group dancing in the new year.
It is peaceful & sometimes just what I need. Life has too much going on the rest of the year __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. Leo my soulmate will live in my heart FOREVER Nov 1, 2002 - Dec 16, 2018 |

I'm sorry you felt that way and were lonely. I hope that you find good friends to hang out with in the new year. I too stayed up 'til midnight and then went to bed. Seems to me that the new year is just a different number sometimes but I try to restart some things and finish some other things too. I watched the ball drop on tv and noticed how cold and cramped they were in Times Square and realized how warm and comfortable I was on my couch. I hope you feel better.
