my groceries on friday came to a total of £100

most things in the store I braught 2 of- 2 bottles of coke, 2 bottles of doctor pepper, 2 packets of biscuits, etc, and I wasn't even mannic

the shop I go to as well is an expensive one, with the best food- and highest quality

point to my rant is after spending all this money on food and getting it home, I feel unworthy- that I don't deserve it, and that I'm being greedy (some of it's not open, and I really want to take it back)

yesterday someone asked me about it and I described myself as being "high maintinence", when it came to shopping- what I actually said was I'm not content with just the basics, I have to live like the queen and I really don't deserve it

and I don't

£100 is the type of money you'd put away for christmas or put towards a cruise

not spend in a day at a supermarket

Quality food and eating well IS important, raing vortex - and you definitely deserve it, as much as everyone else. Are you having problems managing your finances or is it just a guilt problem? If it's the former, is there a cheaper supermarket near you that you can try out? Please try not to feel guilty. As long as it's under control, I don't think spending money for food is something to be worried about - after all, food is a basic necessity. I'd say try to be careful, but don't stress yourself over it. Sending many hugs to you

Ahem! - do you need to have a discussion inside about it?
Shopping goes better for me now that we have agreement to talk about it inside. Before shopping could be a total nightmare: I could get locked into buying/not buying something for hours - or I could end up like you with compulsively bought stuff on the table that didn't give me pleasure.

Do you think that young insiders want the Dr Pepper as an idea of something good, just like they wanted the expensive bear? Or do you enjoy Dr Pepper - in which case, I agree that you are worth whatever floats your boat !

You can take it back if there is something that you would like better, so there's no need to beat anyone up about it.

raging vortex Is it possible to look at it as having bought into the next time that you would have needed to go shopping? Sounds like you have plenty of soda. Can those last you through the month? It is winter and weather can be sketchy. I've had a couple of jaw dropping expenditures at the market where I'd spent more than my average, but after I settled myself, I had realized after the fact just how long the food lingered in my home reducing the need to shop at my average for a while.

If you found some good deals then maybe you’ll be stocked up for an extra week or two?

If you still have the receipt you should be able to take a few things back and get the refund. But don't give yourself too hard a time. It's quite easy to overspend in the spur of the moment.

This is a wonderful response that I entirely agree with. Take the small victories and leave the rest. There's always a chance to grow. Just the fact that you have a budget and a desire to keep to it is a victory in itself.

I understand the feeling. I grew up being made to feel like I didn't deserve to have money spent on me.

I think you should look at it as you treating yourself. When that voice in your head shames you, respond to it and say "I needed food and I got it. Go away. "
