The loneliness screams in my head.... I succumb to the yelling in my head. All I want is a friend... I try to keep busy, but when nighttime hits its overwhelming. My loneliness is most at night. Any tips?

I used to be lonely even with people around me. I did not feel a real connection. That went away eventually, but it was rough.
Now I have moved to be around my wife's family in a new state about 4 years ago. I do not have one single friend here. All I have is her famliy and I don't really have time for a friend as I work at least 12 hour days. I don't miss friends, but it is kinda sad when you look at it. |

I'm sorry you're going this, I went through something similar about 2 years ago. I understand it's really overwhelming sometimes. I hope you're able to find something that helps and get through it.

Do you have any close connections? Im just wondering if your loneliness is from no close connections, or those few connections being unsatisfying in some aspects.
Either way, if it's a friend you need. You could try some friend or dating apps, or even here. I've seen two threads were the OP asks for friends, and a decent amount of people responded. |

When you feel lonely like this go to more AA meetings. Did you know that a lot of alcoholics suffer from PTSD? This can make it harder to commit to staying sober and learning how to deal with your challenges instead of using the alcohol to get away from them. So, when you go to meetings you will have others around you that are also working on staying sober and slowly learning how to live their lives differently. Actually, it can help if you can also see a therapist too. A lot of people go to meetings at night for the same reason, being lonely at night.

you will find as I have that americans and america is very cliche and people are not very inclusive or warm or friendly. They are cold toward one and other.
I blame this country for why so many people are lonely. I used to be all alone just like you until I discovered how you can be happier outside the USA. Its much easier to make friends with people in Latin America and other places like the Philippines. Some of the best friends I have ever made are Mexicans. They are very warm and inclusive and always invite you out to parties, social gatherings like going to the beach etc. That would be my advice as in my experience most americans are insecure, flaky and unreliable as friends at least. why not try a trip to Mexico, Latin America, or south east asia might broaden your horizons a bit and you can see not all the world isn't all as lame and lonely as the USA. |

Hi, I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I know the feeling all too well. Have you ever thought about getting involved in something your interested in like taking arts and crafts, pottery or knitting classes if that is something you are interested in. You could meet friends there. I know there is a website called Meetup.com and you just put in your zip code and they have alot of groups of people that get together for different interests. We're here for you

❤️❤️ ((((sadveiledbride)))) ❤️❤️. I wish you well, sweetheart, in your quest for friends. These relationships can take time and patience to build. But you do have value and wholeness in and of yourself. It may be of interest to you - or not - that as an extreme introvert I have the opposite problem — that is, how to keep people at a distance from me without hurting or offending them!

You are very wrong saying this. You cannot say this about a country just because you had a bad experience with some people. Americans for the most part are a very friendly, accepting, caring and generous people. |
