If you've been a big fan of a game series or something else, for quite a number of years, then surely you can see for yourself if you think it has been ruined, or if it's not anywhere as interesting as it maybe once was. But I just find a lot of video game related forums have severe bouts of squabbles among the users, because fanboys don't seem to accept that you just don't agree with a direction something is going in, versus how you want it to be.

Do you find that happens a lot on the Internet?

I think not often. The game is not always the result of the film and vice versa. But if there is a beginning, the game often repeats the movie and the movie repeats the game.

I also think that virtual sex is the norm if there is agreement on both sides. We live in the digital world and I think it will be very popular over time.

I read a lot of forums about amusement parks, and find it amazing how as soon as someone puts an amusement park down for a ride or an atraction they simply don't like, the other members start replying in a way that should (acording to them) get the original member off the forum

sadly I've seen this with my own eyes- people have left because of comments

it's bad that people arn't allowed their own opinions on the internet

or rather they are, they are just not accepted for them

the worst example of this I can think of is a woman on a harry potter forum (a moderator) getting annoyed at a bunch of forum members for being harry potter fans from the USA

harry potter's an english thing, it was written by an english person, in an english city, she was having absolutely none of it

english potter fans only, despite the whole thing at the top of the website stating that anyone is welcome to register

I go on a forum about Silent Hill, a horror game. I post my opinions about that series, and also similar horror games. But when I do that, "fanboys" (the worst breed of gamers) just take the opportunity to mock me - like nobody should be posting opinions!

I’m sorry you’re struggling with this. Sometimes people bully others who don’t agree with them. It’s sad.

Sorry you have been dealing with that Peter A. I think it's an online form of tribalism. It may help you to read about tribalism.

May I ask what a "fanboy" is? I don't move in those circles. I'm curious.

I don’t play video games so am not familiar with that, but sure some people would argue with anybody or anything on the Internet or irl and simply don’t accept that anyone’s might have a different opinion. They might react in a totally over the top temper tantrum childish manner, just over someone knowing more than them on the matter or disagreeing with something.

Some of it due to immaturity (people could be immature at any age) and/or having some serious issues that have nothing to do with what’s going on. I try to think of their behavior with compassion (they don’t know any better or cant control themselves and I can’t help them as I don’t know them irl), and I don’t let it bother me. I have a bigger fish to fry in this world

Well, a fanboy (or girl) is somebody that can be best described as an individual who probably likes any form of media to do with a franchise, even if it's blatantly awful. It's like the company may be secretly paying them.

I'm so sorry you're going through all of this, Peter A! I agree with what all the others have already wisely said better than I ever could. You've been given a lot of great advice on this thread! I'd suggest to follow it if you can! There's definitely a lot of people who argue on the Internet and don't respect each other's opinions! Some of them are not trying to be mean and they are not doing it on purpose, while others are just downright bullies! I'd suggest to avoid this kind of people and discussions if it bothers you too much! Don't let their behavior turn you off, there are many wonderful people in the Internet as well, like here on PC! I hope you'll be able to find the right forums for you to talk about any videogames you like or other things you'd like to talk about! Sending many hugs to you, Peter A, and to everyone else, including all of you wonderful people here on PC!

I'm going to take a break for 6 months until October. I think I need to stay away from video gaming forums for a while. They don't have the nicest of people. Certainly not like us folk on here.
