so, if you read my post about the police, you'll know that a girl I know recently lost her boyfriend (she is really upset about it)

so, to soften the blow, I braught her a cd of westlife (she loves westlife)

however when I went to give it to her, she told me she couldn't accept it because she didn't feel it was right too, and then her mother cut in well actually, no it's not right, because she'll just want things from you all the time

I feel a bit disappointed (it was only £4, so not much), but I thought it would be nice for her to know that she has a friend and someone supporting her

I guess it will just sit on my desk unopened, probably go to the charity shop eventtually since I have my own copy of it

I should clarify we're both female, and have no interest in each other

she's straight (obviously) as she's always with guys

I don't see what the problem is. No reason I know if not to accept a " I'm sorry you are having a hard time" gift. Couldn't tell ya where their heads are at. Sorry your gift was rejected

I don’t really understand why she didn’t accept it. I’m sorry your gift was rejected. Rejection sucks..

That sucks, Vortex. People get squirrelly about gifts sometimes, the same way they can be squirrelly about humor. You never know how they're going to take your gesture.

I always have butterflies in my stomach when I give someone a gift, not knowing if they'll even accept it or not, even though I meant well.

So while she was standing there her mother chose to degrade her like that? Do you think your gift would have been received better if her mother had not been there?
