Is the film or song or entire body of work destroyed for you forever? Or do you separate the man from the work?

No right or wrong answer...all responses welcome. I am just curious about how others feel in these bizarre situations.

I used to love the film K-Pax particularly on bad depression days. But since Kevin Spacey was the protagonist and we have since learned more about him, I no longer have a desire to watch it and that is very disappointing.

The Cosby Show, which I adored as a child, is ruined forever. I used to daydream about being part of their family.

Michael Jackson's music? I don't know. Such great beats but the association is more than ugly.

I choose to turn a blind eye (regards to Mj, him and the music) but, the guy was a childhood hero....all those who were children of the 70’s, in Uk, well...I’ll leave it there! Yes, I can/do separate all the rot, from that person. I prefer to go with opinion of, nobody really knows. For me, having not been believed in, by pretty much everyone, in my life, when I was legitimately suffering, I personally say, screw society.

Lol, obviously, that’s just me

ToM cruise ruined a great many movies for me. I loved mission impossible on tv but have never seen the movies cause that guy had to be in them.

I'm not bothered by it. I'm very much able to separate things. There is no reason to stop loving shows, movies or music that have impacted my life, because of something like this.

People are also flawed, celebs included. I never expect them to be perfect in any way. Some people suck, it happens in all aspect of lives but they can still be hella talented

Times have changed. People are no longer completely blinded by the glamour of Hollywood and we are more aware than ever of its ugly side. Personally, I think celebrities have too much influence and power. It makes me sad to see how badly it affects the self image of young people.... many of them try so hard to live up to such a ridiculous ideal. Soooo..... I no longer watch shows or listen to music if the entertainers have a history of abusing children or any other kind of history of abuse. We essentially pay their paychecks right? I turned off cable years ago and I rarely go to the movies. I saw an article recently about how people need to go to the movies more otherwise Hollywood will suffer financially. Ha! We give them way too much power and money in my opinion and I do my best not to support it. I can find a million other things to do, including watching independent movies or shows and reading books instead.

I am unafected by it.

music is music. what the singers have done is wrong, of course it is, but the fact is their is music, an it is good.

a couple of years ago someone wanted me to get rid of a cd that someone got me as a leaving gift at school, because the singer in question had done things that people didn't agree with (not MJ), but I refuse.

never the less, it was taken from me anyway and I spent a good while trying to find his music again, as I have fond memories of his songs when I was young

I don't get angry with people who don't want to play mj's music (or anyone else for that matter in that category), that's their decision and I respect it

I can't separate the wrong doings from the work they have done. That wrongdoing becomes a trigger. I loved watching Mr. Selfridge and when the sexual misconduct about Jeremy Piven became news, my heart sank. The series he was working on was great and all the actors and crew on that program lost their jobs. Just makes me sick.

I understand we can separate the behavior from the person, but that is where I am now, in this stage of my life. It's a struggle for me. I try not to judge others, but criminal behavior affects me that way. Criminal behavior carries consequences and me backing off is what I do to take care of me.

It really depends. If the person's actions doesn't affect me when I listen to their music, read their books, etc. I'm good. I wouldn't support them anymore though ( and I wouldn't give them my money, but I don't usually donate to my favorite content creators). If the works and the person have similar elements, then I just cannot..
