One of the best things I have done for myself is join a DBT therapy group.

I really wanted to quit. A few times. I stuck with it. It helps me so much and I think everyone should give it a try at least twice.

No problem! However you choose to do it, I say go for it if you are able and have the means. There are some free videos on youtube as well. I think it's under DBT peer connections. Let me know if you have any questions or difficulty!

Had 2 years of group DBT & it was the best therapy I ever had. Our group psychologist is now my private T so she keeps me remembering the skills I used.

DBT gave me a voice & gave me the words & skills I needed to express everything I experienced through my life.

I had a private T while doing the DBT group too so I could talk about the specific things we talked about in a more general way in DBT.

I had been in therapy since 1994 & started DBT in 2010.....lots of wasted years but sure gave me a good contrast to see what good therapy was really like

Eskie, your story parallels mine in that I also have been in therapy a looong time, and finally am getting the help, growth, and change I need from it. Lots of wasted years, yes. Happy of course, to be getting real help though now.

The DBT gave me the knowledge & understanding I needed to express what I was going through & what I had gone through. It also helped me put words to my emotions/feelings that I never was able to do before.

I really feel like I got a second chance at life starting at the age of 54 then the good therapy starting at 57 just solidified that 2nd chance. I have never felt so much peace & happiness even while dealing with difficult situations.

I had been dealing with depression & anxiety, a bad marriage & then a trauma that caused some PTSD. Then I came to understand just why I had never felt any emotional connections all my life when all of a sudden I was feeling connected. It made me realize what had been missing all my life. An amazing growth process & reprogramming of my neural pathways.

Dbt has really benefitted me. Wish I had the skills 20 years ago. Helps me make better decisions, helps me express myself be more assertive. So happy I took it.
