Does it help when you are compensated for your loss in some ways?

For example, you were abused in your past relationship.
But now you are with someone who treats you well.
While current happiness doesn't erase the past, does it not compensate for some of your losses? Or no?

It is so hard for me to get over being used and think about how I lost money to people who were deceptive (people I gave money to because I believed their sob stories, or people who took advantage and failed to pay me back in full).

The past wouldn't matter if I am well off now.

But because I am still financially struggling, it's hard for me to get over the bitterness and regrets.

I hope that makes sense.

I understand what you are saying.

Personally I have no bitterness, anger or regrets over whatever happened in the past. I believe living in regrets puts one in a victim’s mode. And I refuse to be a victim. I made mistakes too and some are related to finances including being scammed. But I don’t tend to ruminate or agonize over the past. We only have one life to live and it’s quite short so I intend to enjoy the heck out of it while I can.

All you can do is learn the lesson and be more savvy and move on with your life.

I’d also look at ways to improve your life financially or otherwise so you look forward rather than backwards. Better paid job. Second job. Better friends. Nicer place to live Etc

I COMPLETELY understand what you mean, ennie! The Past can't be erased but having a better Present can certainly make past mistakes easier to swallow! It's hard when we're STILL struggling and trying to find a direction and path to our life because we're not sure if things will EVER improve! But we have to keep fighting and to keep trying OUR BEST! That's ALL we humand can do after all and it's ALWAYS more than enough! Just TRY DO YOUR BEST to improve your life like divine1966 has already wisely said better than I ever could! That's all we can do after all! The Past is in the Past and even though it is hard to move one we HAVE to do it! Keep looking forward! There's a bright future ahead of ALL OF US! I'M SURE OF THAT! Just remember to NEVER GIVE UP, OK? THINGS CAN AND WILL GET BETTER! THAT'S A PROMISE! Let us know how things are going for you, ok? WE ALL CARE ABOUT YOU! THAT'S A PROMISE! WISH YOU GOOD LUCK! TAKE GREAT CARE OF YOURSELF! Sending many kind, safe, sweet, warm and WONDERFUL HUGS TO YOU, ENNIE, JUST LIKE YOU ARE!
