Hi everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm doing this as an assignment for one of my classes, but I really want to take advantage of the platform to discuss some of the emotions I've been struggling with.

I have always been someone who has a hard time regulating emotions, and I have made poor decisions in the past because I have let my emotions be my guides rather than logic. In the past several months, my emotions have been all over the place - I think largely because of the stress of balancing work, school, volunteering, church, marriage, and just life in general. Thoughts and feelings of anxiety and restlessness have caused me to not eat as much, to sleep too little or too much, and ultimately making me shaky and uneasy and distracted. I've found that in times when it's really bad, meditating, praying, and deep breathing doesn't really help all that much. I have been considering going to counseling, as I feel like the root of some of my problems are the intense, unattainable standards I often set for myself.

I'm hoping this forum will help me work through some of these issues, and learn better coping skills for times of extreme anxiety. I'm looking forward to "meeting" you all, and seeing what this forum has to offer!

You forgot to list yourself. If you're looking for balance, then you need to remember to take some time for yourself, to care for your own emotional and physical wellbeing. A few minutes of meditation isn't going to cut it, either. I would recommend finding something that you really enjoy and find relaxing. I've got Judo a couple times a week, for example.

Ah, such good advice. I often forget to prioritize myself, and then beat myself up for forgetting. The cycle is vicious. Thank you for the gentle reminder! <3
