Does anyone feel worse after they got emotional over something? I know it is a good thing to let your emotions out and both men and women are allowed to do it. I think it's great when people are able to open up and express themselves rather than lock it up inside and let it cause internal turmoil. But I've noticed with myself, I actually feel worse when I get emotional sometimes rather than better. I hear letting it out is supposed to make you feel better but it doesn't for me. It does the opposite. Not sure why but it does. Wasn't sure if anyone else had this problem. It can be annoying and prevent anyone with this problem from wanting to let their emotions out.
This is the main reason I hate getting emotional, it's not a fear of embarrassment, although I do worry about making others uncomfortable, it's more of how I feel immediately afterwards. It sucks to have that kind of feeling. Good thing is that it doesn't last long though, depending on the situation. Does anyone else hate getting emotional due to feeling worse afterwards? The only thing that can make it worse is if I get emotional in front of someone only to realize that person was uncomfortable. That just makes it even worse, that's why I almost never get emotional in front of others, and even try not to get emotional even when I'm by myself. Like I mentioned, it is not due to a fear of being seen as weak, it is a dislike of how I feel afterwards and not wanting to make others uncomfortable. even though it's okay to be emotional sometimes. |

Sometimes I feel better knowing that someone has heard me. One of the reasons I cannot always control my emotions is because I let myself hold onto issues that are out of my league to solve on my own. I do not care really who hears me, but if there is a problem that weighs me down and I have contemplated it over and still have not been able to get past, I feel much better after having let it go from my mind.

Sometimes expressing emotions can bring about shame because it could be a person's parents tended to say "don't feel" not realizing that's not good to do with a child. People are often imprinted unknowingly to think expressing emotions means they are weak and are being a baby.

I grew up believing him as a child but once I hit my teenage years, I started to realize that it’s okay to let out your emotions. The only time I disapprove of emotions being used is if it’s to manipulate someone. That’s a turnoff. Otherwise I believe it’s good to let your emotions out. |
