I live in a major city that has a ton of Chinese nationals for bio tech or school. Either they had family come in to the city or they went to visit family and came back. I take the subway line that goes to the airport not to mention that the area i work in is a tourist area. Today a weird thing was reported.. a lot of people infected here were infected at a bio tech conference. And a Chinese national who was infected and lied about it was called back to China and is facing charges there. Did we find out about it and order China to take her back and prosecute her? Did China send "agents" around the world on purpose? I mean this was reported in a liberal paper... so.. |

Well my consult with the specialist got converted to a phone call. I won't be getting labs or any tests. Thanks Cornavirus. I almost feel like cancelling as what is the point of that? But I won't because perhaps he will give me the go ahead for tests in June.
I remain frustrated about this issue. As there is not a lot of information out there on it and thus prone to bad advice. It is really frustrating me. One person told me that chicken had been associated with blood cancer. But when I looked it up I found many studies debunking that. Not to mention that the one thing I rarely eat is chicken. Probably only have it 1x per week, if at all. |

I suggest you go ahead and talk with the doctor, Emily. You might be worrying about something that'll turn out okay.
I did get some blood work done last week at a doctor's office--so, if the doctor thinks you need to rush to get checked out, then I think that can be arranged, Okay? |

Thanks, I had hoped that maybe he saw my blood work and decided it was not worth the labs but the person I spoke with told me that wasn't they case as they don't have my labs yet.

Very disappointed with today's visit. I saw "the" preeminent doctor in the field. He is the doctor for Tom Brokaw.
But he had one drawback that against my better judgment I went with. He was a man. I don't mean to be sexist but, in general I find men, especially powerful men, do not have the manners of women and seem think I am there to listen to his words. When really I know everything he is going to tell me before he opens his mouth and I just want the opportunity to ask questions that aren't answered out there. We had a 40 minute zoom conference where he just talked and talked and talked. I figured I better not piss off the leader in the field so I waited my turn to speak. It didn't happen. - as with all doctors they go to imho insane lengths to convince me the condition is nothing without telling me factually why they are unconcerned. - If I am there, then I am concerned about it and I think it rude for them not to have the same level of seriousness -- without explanation. I work in something that is considered the top of the ladder and I always keep in mind that people walking in the door -- it is life and death for them even though it is just another day for me. - He was so interested in talking about himself that is all he did. To the extent that he spent at least 15 minutes of the meeting talking about the corona virus -- I did have a question about that but he didn't let me get it out. - I only went there because I wanted to be under the care of the best, but it seems I have been dismissed. He talked about how he would give my hematologist directions. I suspect strongly that will just piss her off. (that I went behind her back to the big boy). - He brought up that I should do no further tests at the moment. He thinks that I should be tested every three months and only do the big boy tests if things progress. - He did give me his e-mail and phone number if I did want to bring things to his attention. - He says that, should I develop blood cancer, we have treatments now where my lifespan will not be shortened. I think he is crazy. I know he wants to put a positive face on it but saying such thing gives me great pause. Perhaps he is a god but, that makes me think he is overly optimistic. - He seems about 75 or so -- so I am wondering if he will even be alive when I might come down with something. I am considering seeing if I can't start a website on this. If doctors won't take things seriously.... maybe we have to do it on our own. |

So I got back another test. And drum roll... it was normal.
There are like 9 tests for this condition. 7 blood tests 2 Urine tests 1 bone marrow biopsy. Of the blood tests only one was abnormal and it was a "trace". I have not done the bone marrow biopsy. But ALL... all the other tests have come back normal AND all my other tests, CBC, Liver Kidney tests have also come back normal. I am starting to think this is nothing and I do have have any sort of malignancy. |
