Idk if it's the fact that the love in a friendship is never reciprocated but I've started to hate meeting people cause I just expect them to not last in my life... is that a bad way to think? Or is it reality?

Well, I don't think it's an unusual way to think @BornTired1, put it that way, and if it has been your reality, then there's really no need to doubt that.

My main problem is meeting people at all. And then when I finally do make a connection and start getting to know them better, I begin discovering ways about them - that weren't apparent in the beginning - that make me wish I didn't begin getting to know them in the first place. Because it means I now have to dissolve the relationship in a way that won't hurt their feelings - if that's even possible. I'm in that predicament now with two people I met in a support group type setting.

Yeah, it's very tiring, BornTired1. Very tiring.

I find that it's not impossible to find true friends, but they are rare. A lot of people just use others for their own gain.

Why is it not lasting? What sort of things do you do with your friends?

They're busy with relationships or kids or they're into partying... I'm more into traveling & going to the movies or out to eat so I guess we're not on the same page and don't speak as much

This is my first day on the forum, and my first message, so I say hello to all.

As a middle-aged single woman who never wanted kids or pets, I find it very difficult to make friends my age, or to be able to spend much time with my married-with-kids friends. Most of my newer friends are in their 30s, which I judge as "wrong," not that there is anything inherently wrong with it, I suppose. My best friends seem to be the ones I knew before my BPD presented; I tell I have it and say "sorry" once for any times I'm a bit off, such as my hypomanic and distractible days, and they accept it and love me. I can count all those friends on one hand.
