When I get into a deep depression, I get body chills and even a tight jaw, can’t eat. In the past, I’d rarely get such a severe allergy attack (not depressed) and also get body aches. I’d even get body shakes and involuntary chattering teeth.

Does anyone else get anything similar? I’ll have to remember to tell my doctor. Maybe go back to my allergist too. I am not even taking any meds for allergies anymore. I wonder if these are at all related too.

Thanks for pointing that out! It could be. But when I got that reaction when I was younger I wasn’t on any meds. I’d take Benadryl for the allergy attack but still go through the shaking thing. A close family member had it much worse and the doctors never figured out what it was. But it stopped when she became menopausal.

I stopped having the severe allergy attacks and then I started the emotional issues. Interesting. I’m so desperately trying to figure it out lol.

I get like this when dealing with extreme situation particularly unexpected death or similar shock.

I was like this when my son in law died, I shook so bad I couldn’t stop my teeth chattering and my whole body was violently shaking.

When I got a phone call from my daughter I was at work and I had to get airplane tickets immediately. I shook so bad that I couldn’t type on a keyboard and move a mouse, I had to call airlines and tell them to help me because I shook too hard to be able to do anything. They had hard time understanding me as my teeth were chattering. I shook like this and had chills for a long time after his death. I had the same experience when my mom passed away. And then same happened few months ago with my beloved uncles death. Chills, shaking, etc oh I absolutely cannot eat anything in this condition.

Of course eventually I get back to normal. I don’t have allergies and am not on meds, also not prone to depression
. I think just extreme emotional reaction that becomes physical

That does sound like your body reacting to extreme stress and maybe shock. Did all three passings happen unexpectedly? My condolences

The physical reactions I sometimes get now are definitely stress, too. The reactions I used to get from severe allergies, though, were not stress or emotional.

One of the worst times, we took a short cruise, so it was an older ship. I didn’t sneeze my head off from the dust, but I had convulsions with chattering teeth all night. My husband held me tight to try to warm me to try to stop. I’m sure it was a reaction to the old dust, mold maybe? I’m the Princess and the Pea!

I hate to keep having this personal issue with my husband, but it’s still the same, and it’s taking its toll on us all. . The new therapist said he’s impressed how much we have tried to fix it though.

Open Eyes talks about getting chills and shakes like that under severe stress. She says she almost burns herself with heating pads n stuff.

So many men fall for us (their wives) because of our weaknesses. They want to be our knights in shining armor.

I think mine fell for me for my serving a purpose for him, and sadly vice verse, too, tbh . It’s the lack of knight in shining armor issue for me that is a biggle.

Thank you. Yes my son in law died on a spot in tragic accident and my poor daughter had no closure and my uncle died of heart attack on a spot, literally fell and died. My mom was battling cancer and we knew she was terminal but it was still horrid And she died so fast. She was still sitting down and conversing on Friday and was dead on Monday. She was too young to die and we were not ready at all. Still not ready.

Unrelated to this I tend to get very cold for no reason. I am usually cold most of the time. My brother is the same. It’s a running joke in the family. We’d be wearing two sweaters when other people wear a t shirt. But I don’t think it’s anything clinical.

@TishaBuv, I'm wondering if you eat regularly or do you not eat a lot? Because whenever I haven't eaten for a while, whenever I'm hungry, I feel cold. I knew another guy who was like this as well, and we both also suffer depressions and anxieties. But the key thing was not eating. And as soon as I have a meal my body temperature becomes warm again.

That was sort of the case yesterday, too. I had eaten a small breakfast, but nothing else until later in the afternoon because I was upset. Good point, thanks!

Yes it’s anxiety/stress/trauma related. A sudden death can bring it on as that’s a trauma. Yet our subconscious mind can create it if we experienced a trauma even years ago and get triggered.

It’s frustrating in that it’s involuntary.

I think it was the combination the day I posted this of taking a new prescribed pill for anxiety attack and eating barely anything, plus severe sadness from frustration.

Sometimes, when I feel depressed I feel aches in my joints without taking any different meds. I feel the same way as you from the depression. Is the cause of the sad emotion coming from someone or something in your life you can change?
