I am moving next week. I thought I was taking it in stride so well. Now all I want to do is sit here, eat ice cream, and stare into the internet. I'm allowing myself this.

I will pack more tomorrow.

I've also had sort of a weird day. I'm not going into it. But its ok to have weird days. Weird weeks. This covid thing is weird. And I'm beginning to accept that too.

To anyone who needs to hear this: whatever happens to you during covid, whether its a job loss, loved one loss, or you get covid, or your plans in take a disappointing turn, look yourself in the mirror and say "its not my fault." I heard that on the radio yesterday and really liked it.

I looked it up and I'm confused about why you'd suggest I'm in danger or like danger is hanging over my head. That's not what I was trying to say at all. Unless you are talking about yourself and covid or something.

How far are you moving? I am planning a cross country move. I have been frozen for days. I mean I am doing stuff but not very productively. I need to do a lot more and work at a faster pace.

This happened to me during my last two moves. I live alone and move alone and find it very difficult to get motivated.

Then, of course, everything gets snowballed towards the end and I hate that.

Why I am presently frozen is someone in my apartment complex stole all my moving boxes. I had them stored in a storage area...then gave the storage area up. I had them in the back of my pick-up truck and was going to store them in my apartment...but left them overnight. In the morning they were gone! I was seething. I had used these same boxes for three moves.

It seems simple...go out and replace them. It's just a hang-up that I get frozen. I am also peeved I have to pay for new boxes. My other collection was salvaged from many places that are not open because of Covid19.

Moving requires thousands of decisions...small and big. I think it is simply that the brain gets fatigued and "turns off." I remember towards the end of the last move I was watching Harry Potter movies and drinking beer! Thank goodness I no longer drink or I might be knocking some beers back right now!

I wish I was where you are...so close to departure. BEST OF LUCK. YOU ARE ALMOST THERE.

I keep telling myself, "It doesn't have to get done perfectly. It just has to get done."

Hope you enjoy life in your new home.

Yes, moving house is said to be one of the most stressful things on people. So take extra care of the self, WG.

Yeah thats it. I had to look it up myself. At first i didnt think it applied because damocles was a king, but then i think it does, because we have to govern ourselves personally very carefully, and i think THAT stress is getting to people. The example given was he had a feast in front of him, then he noticed the sword - idk.

Often when I feel this way, exactly this way, I tell myself I'm giving myself a certain amount of time to feel bad - like I can sit on the sofa and eat ice cream for 2 hours, and then I'll pack. Just like you said, I will pack more tomorrow, done for today. And that's very helpful.

Just acknowledge you need some self care and to give your inner child some attention right now. The inner WovenGalaxy needs a break, needs to not deal with moving for a bit every day. That's totally reasonable, isn't it? So you'll pack for 4 hours, then take a break and not think about it for a while.

I think you are still handling it in stride. Good job giving yourself a break, recognizing you needed to relax and stop packing, and tending to your self care needs. Proud of you!

No I'm not moving far. I'm actually going to have to move twice this year. Long story. But I'm doing it.

I saw your thread about moving across the country. I think that sounds so exciting. Good luck to you too.

The last two moves only moved five miles each time. But moving is moving no matter it is short or long...you still have to do all the same stuff. I can't imagine why you will need to move more than once in a year! Hopefully you don't have much stuff. I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF.

Hell yeah seesaw! That's totally what I wanted to say. I don't think there is anything unreasonable about having trouble dealing with moving, or COVID, or anything that's going on right now. These are tough times.

Thanks Christmas cookie. I appreciate your sentiments. Yes, I am ok. Its been a stressful transition and I've had to call my therapists office a bunch of times crying. But most everyone in my life has been very supportive. And I have better moments. I'm having a better night. I decided, too, to stay where I am while looking for another apt. Living at my parents would be more difficult and just impossible.
