I feel insignificant in life and my life has no meaning to anyone else beside myself only to instinctually, perpetually, but aimlessly maintain my life.

At work, I have a manager who is younger than me with less qualifications, yet he is important, while I'm doing a work that I'm way overqualified to do, and no one even acknowledges my work and cares what I say, while everyone looks up to the manager and what he does and says. This manager, although he's treated as important, has been disrespectful of me, I feel to tell me "you are not important here", which makes the feelings 10x worse. Not just that, my supervisor, who is also younger and with less qualifications ignores my questions and requests and deems them as "not important" as she implied once, while she gives more attention to others, including those who are not her supervisees This is one example of why I feel this way, but my whole life is a variation of this

I am so sorry your manager and supervisor are treating you this way! I'd have a hard time with that too. Is there a way you can bring up the issue with a higher up? Mainly, that your manager has said things to you to make you feel bad. That's not right.

You do matter. You are significant.

If you'd like advice on how to feel better about yourself, let me know. Its something I'm working on myself.

I don't want to go around my supervisor and manager and be marked as the person who does this. These things can follow you to your next jobs, and recruiters and managers would be cautious not to hire such people because they think they would potentially do the same with them.

Some things I'm trying for myself: doing things I truly enjoy (I have some hobbies that I really get into) - it makes me feel worthy and I get absorbed in those activities, distraction (for me, that means watching really funny tv shows or youtube, also getting lost in a good book, and moving around literally doing chores) - I say distraction, because it literally lifts my mood to do these things and then I'm not even focused on the crap **** stress in my life, or I can get a lighter perspective on it, positive self talk. I found this in a google search once but held on to it because I found it helped me a lot: How to Build Self Esteem (A Guide to Realize Your Hidden Power)

Thanks for sharing. I don't have hobbies I am into, but I'm working on some technologies and side projects I am interested in and I like to do, I read books (I just recently started after years of not reading), and do the necessary chores and routines with conviction in a timely manner (before I was procrastinating until things get dire). I will have a look at the article. Thanks again
