Does anyone else feel angry all the time?

I have recently cut ties with my family, as well as many members of the extended family (the ones I consider "toxic").
Though this has brought a REALLY healthy change in my life and I feel more empowered and myself than ever, my emotions went completely out of control these last months!

My partner is getting the full load. Where I am usually SO good in controlling my emotions, they are suddenly coming out in very CHILDISH ways. I can't remember ever having had a tantrum in my life.

Now I have a tantrum nearly every week!

What is wrong with me? Why am I having these anger attacks, even though my life has changed for the better after the loss of abusive family members?

Because now it’s safe to feel and express all the pent up anger you’ve felt in your life. Maybe try some hobby such as throwing clay or pounding pillows so you don’t take out your anger on your partner.

Nammu may very well be right about this. It may be helpful to talk to a therapist.

You feeling guilt about cutting ties with a family? Even if they are toxic, it’s common to feel guilty and guilt csn make you so stressed that it comes out in anger

Cutting ties with family does more harm then good. I did it myself, but there is a guilty feeling when we do this. I believe i should love them even though they do not like me, simply because they are my family. I will see them again soon when this is all over. I will go out with my brothers to watch films again. You really need your family, and i need mine.

I also think that feeling guilty (even when we have not done anything ''wrong'') can contribute to feeling very grrrrrrr (angry). It's (obviously) hard for most people who have any empathy to cut ties completely with family even if they are toxic (at least that has been my experience....... )

Physical expression of anger such as throwing things (soft balls, clay etc) can be helpful. Even ''screaming'' if nobody can hear you (not always possible) I always find growling helpful, personally
