Default Starting A Blog: Mental Health & Recovery Support

Hello my friends!

I have been thinking about doing this for quite some time and I think that I am in a place to finally to pull the trigger. First of all, focused and creative writing has always been a love and passion of mine. I usually don't share my work, but when I have I usually get some pretty encouraging feedback. This site is a prime example of how internet resources can greatly help others feel supported, loved, promote personal healing, and the benefit of community.

That being said, I would like to create a blog or a website to host my writing. Although I could probably do better in the sense of having a consistent editorial calendar or a more directed focus, I believe that I am in a good place to start.
I do have experience with some web design and am very proficient in media production, creating attractive digital content, and copy review. I also understand that there are writers on here that my be interested in guest posting or sharing their work?

What ideas do you guys have for me? What would you like to see, read, and participate with? I am open to all ideas (especially since most of the folks on here would be my target audience). As for now, I am not interested in monetizing this content, but if it comes to that down the road, I will not shy away from it. The main idea though is to start with a fluid grassroots effort and see where it goes.

I am open to writing and website examples, all writing topics, attractive design, different formats, web hosting providers, and generally anything else that will help me get this off the ground!

Thanks in advance!

First of all, I think this is a wonderful idea! I have to say now that whether direction this blog goes, I'll support it. I'm also a big fan of creative writing. I also hope you don't mind me popping in for a couple of suggestions!

Overall, I don't have a specific writing topic in mind. I just think as long as you don't put that much of limitations on the writing that will be on the blog, it would be fine. For example, a variety of one-shots, stories, and poems of any skill level. You can also do prompts/themes (maybe monthly?) for any participation with members or readers of the blog. Maybe, give the person a choice of either being anonymous or not when posting their submissions on the blog?

As for web hosting providers, the only ones I could think of are either blogger or weebly. And as for design, I think as long as it's not too fancy (and by that, too fancy to the point where it can be unreadable or eye burning to some) and overall functional, it should be fine!

Otherwise, I'm not sure of what other suggestions I can give, but I hope you didn't mind them. Still, I'm wishing you all of the luck with your blog!
