I was wondering if anyone with this disorder has done EMDR as treatment and has been successful at it?

I would be interested in this as well, as my new therapist has suggested trying it.
Thanks for asking the question, NCsweetheart79.

Also, welcome to PC! I notice that you're new. I hope you'll get a lot out of it.

Yes, what I've read about it is that it was 'invented' as a treatment by Shapiro in 1990 initially to work with people who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

I talked to a therapist on Facebook today and she had a client that had DPD and did EMDR and it was successful for her.

That's good to hear. Great you've found that out.

I've had one session on it. It made me quite tired and fairly calm at the end. I'm not sure yet though to what extent it will have the desired effect. The context we did it in was actually for coping with anxiety / panic issues. It was about creating a safe place. I'm going to test out whether I can get to this safe place ...
I hope your session went well!

It went okay I forgot how I can be afterwards where I can't block anything out. I am going to redo it on Wed and see how it goes again.

I do EMDR and am interested in hearing how others feel about it. My T is really into it and we've done it about 6 or 7 times so far. I know it does something but I don't understand it and I'm skeptical of what I don't understand. Yes, I've read the literature about it but it's just weird!!

I feel calm afterwards and sort of like I've been hypnotized. We use buzzers and headphones. I got dizzy following my T's fingers, and besides, she likes to do it with my eyes closed.

I don't have major trauma, but my T seems to want to use it for everything! She's pursuing advanced training in EMDR too.

I have anxiety and BPD.
