I have chronic back pain due to a work related injury in 05. This injury has totaly changed my life as I once knew it. I have become so depressed because the future looks so bleek. After the injury my company perm. laid me off so now i have no income and in a position to lose everything. My relationships with my husband and my son have suffered. My social life is practically nonexistant. My whole world has changed. I live with constant pain and with constant fear of doing anything that may trigger worse pain.
I have frequent panic attacks. The pain, the stress, the anxiety, and the depression are too much to bare sometimes. I take meds for the pain. And just started meds for the anxiety and depression. I'm just not sure where my life is headed. Right now it seems to be going nowhere fast. |

I know how you feel recluse. IM in unrelenting pain also. Every step i take feels like im walking on broken bones. Sometimes its bad and sometimes it worse..haha.....my social world has shrunk and im no longer working also. I have pretty much what you have except i dont have panic attacks. Its good that you are starting to take pain medication and antidepressants so that you can reduce the pain to allow you to have the best life you can. Antidepressants are actually used for pain also. I dont really have any answers for you but can point you in a few directions. There is a forum Neuro Talk that has a spine b oard and a chronic pain board. Have you applied for SSDI? If youhavent the sooner the better to protect the amount you would be entitled too. There is also a post about explaining pain to people around you that is floating around over there that i could track down for you if you wanted......hope you are feeling better soon.

Even now when I have a lot of pain free days a month, I am still in almost paralyzing fear that something I do will bring back the continuous pain. It is a difficult way to live. I hope you will find some relief from your suffering. Meta __________________ Bipolar disorder with very long depressions and short hypomanic episodes. Thank you so much for the information and encouragement. It's hard for the people around me to understand what it is exactly that I am going thru. A person that hasn't had to deal with constant pain doesn't really understand the physical and emotional toll it takes on a person. I hope we both can find the answers we are looking for.

I really can't say much ... as your situation triggers memories of where I've been.... now 20 years disabled from an industrial accident. Hang in there. Try to do day by day only. (((gentle hug)))
