in other words, when someone asks "did you have a good day?" what do you think about before responding?

mine are:

- good mood

- being productive

- having 2 full meals a day (morning and evening)

- finding something (or multiple things) that make me laugh

listening to good music

is their anything else that you think of when deciding if it's been a "good day"

This is one of the few things I *don't* overthink.

Pretty much the only thing I consider when asked this question is my mood.

Now, my mood is affected by things like what you mentioned: being well rested, some physical activity, getting things done and feeling accomplished, doing things I enjoy, pleasant events that happened, etc.

But since I'm already in that mood, I don't need to think about all that when asked -- I just answer based on my mood. So, response time is rapid. Especially since people I don't know well get the stock (and often untrue) good/fine/okay.

I don't think too hard about it.

Though, I generally consider if I'd had any stressful things happen earlier in the day, whether I'd done anything particularly enjoyable earlier (whether an activity or an interaction with a friend), and how well rested I am.

Yes, I bought a new pair of casual shoes and some socks today, which I was happy about. And I seem to be handling stress a bit better lately too, which is a promising sign.
